saw a kid riding in shorts this morning
36 F when I left the house. May have warmed to 40 F by the time I saw the guy in shorts in Westford MA. He was riding a custom GSXR and obviously had very little experience. Never actaully saw him come to a stop at the numerous stop signs we went through and he put his foot out like a motocrosser on many corners. Hope he gets some gear and skills before he becomes another statistic. Musta been freezin'.

I laugh so hard, I cry. How does a guy wearing shorts increase insurance rates? That's like seeing a guy taking a piss on the side of the road and blaming him for the recent spike in the price of cranberry barrels.
p.s. - it's 'Boyz', not 'boys'

i just dont understand why those things are such squid magnets. The last two weekend's when i was ridsing out of the city (with nesr and with out) I saw almost *no* gixxers....get back into the great boston area and WHAM! they are everywhere with squids driving them.
in other news, there has been two arson attempts at the place i work in the last 3 days. ugh.

It's not simply his riding in shorts. It's what happens to him when he crashes with shorts on and no helmet. Thanks for allowing me the oppurtunity to explain for the slower thinkers among us.

the less gear you have on the more you get hurt. the more you get hurt the more your insurance pays out. the fact that the BOYEE in question couldn't ride makes it all the more likely he'll wreck the GIXXA and contribute to higher rates. ya feeling me YO.

Unlikely. A year or two of pissing people off and popping wheelies through town centers and he'll either have binned the Gixxer, or be bored with bikes and trade it for a sled or something.
The sad part is that most everyday people can't tell the difference between you and him - even with your ultra-fashionable 'Stitch suit :)

Stitch has seen better days. Pretty grimy looking. Think I need to wash it.
Howzat Tiger treatin' ya?
The Robbins Road motorcycle report is much smaller this year. Between you and the folks that were FMP'd it's rather pathetic now.

Superb mate you would love it.
They can't touch you Dave, I expect you to have the season in the bag by July. You just need more rain days to help open the gap up!

I'm simply saying... there's no need to point fingers and bust my bOYZ balls. Do you know how many dUDES i saw this weekend walk out of the bar with their bandana helmets on and jump onto their Harleys? I don't know either... I can't count that high without an adding machine. These are the guys who are more likely to contribute to rising insurance rates after they have a few pops at the tavern and then go tip over their $20K road-tractors. I have nothing against you personally. I just hate Elitism in general.

Two wrongs don't make a right, but obviously riding drunk is on a different level of irresponsible riding than wearing shorts. Because it puts other people at risk.
Personally I don't care what strangers wear for riding gear - it's their arse not mine - so long as they don't ride like a knob. I care less about insurance rates than I do about motorcyclists being given a bad name.

Those guys raise the rates for Harleys.
The only guys who raise the rates for Gixxers are the guys on Gixxers.

???? dontcha have to crash first to get hurt.... I fail to see how not wearing gear increases your chances of crashing.... IMHO it's just the opposite, I aint never had a close call without gear, I ride more cautiously, I think most people who ride without gear are smart enuf to ride more cautiouly too,
it's you freeking squids that wear racing gear on the edge of your capabilities that raise insurance rates
-

whileI myself wear gear, and would like everyone else to wear it also, I have to agree with Chris and Randy on this one.
That kid can wear shorts every day and not crash and he wont hurt insurance at all. But someone from this site can go out in full leather on a fast paced ride through twisties, go down, and make a claim and raise rates.
Im not saying the kid isnt an idiot, because he is.

thats the dumbest thing i've ever heard. you ride more coutiously becouse you have no gear on? ever have a bee fly up your shorts or bounce of your head? you ride real coutiously with a bee stinging the shit out of your balls. i took a bird of the top of my helmet last year that would have been sweet with a backwards baseball hat on huh?
btw the last time i checked textile gear wasn't "racing" gear:rolleyes:

it's not stupid at all 2 me
