If I'm going WOT, after I get out of first, I sometimes upshift without using the clutch. Is this bad for the tranny at all?

nope
Ya, once you're out of first & in 2nd or higher, there's no problem w/ it... just put pressure on the shifter w/ your foot, quickly close the throttle a bit to relieve the load on the transmission & it'll pop itself up into the next gear, then then you're back on the gas. i do it both on the street & the track w/o much concern... haven't heard any reason to be concerned about it, sooo :dunno:
only reason you shouldn't do it 1st to 2nd is obviously because you've got Neutral in there. i made that mistake @ the last track day comin outta turn 12 & passing an sv1000... oops, hello 15k rpm's, g'bye SV ;)
Heh, I saw that. :) I was about a turn behind you guys, and saw you about to pass James. Here I thought you were doing your best at a Top Gun reenactment. :D
 "Gonna hit the airbrakes & he'll fly right by!" At least i got him further down the straight... not bad for a little 6 hundred :D (and yeah, i know, i'm sure he wasn't goin balls to the wall ;))

yeah , but it takes some getting used to because you are doing the opposite and actually blipping the throttle to downshift without the clutch...practiceQuote:

takes a BUNCH more practice & it's worse if ya mess it up... most riders don't bother clutchess downshifting & just use the clutch.
its good to do when your reaching for tokens or doing something with that hand ..like...picking you nose:D
ah, si senor :hellyeah:
in that case i usually just wait till the RPM's drop to around 2-3k and just hit the shifter... i dont even bother w/ using any throttle to unload the tranny.... i thought you were talking in a higher RPM situation (track)
You downshift at the track? when? when pullining into the pits? i just put it in 4th and keep it pinned:D ;)
