more work than they are worth....
but I am a single mother, and it's all work!!!
Always had one since we were home owners. With kids it's awsome to have, keep them happy all summer, keep us happy too when it's hot and humid. It's not that much work if you get an automatic vaccum, and keep up with the chemicals. Getting a pool cover will also help reduce the stuff getting in the water such as leaves, etc. makes clean up way more easier. Make sure you properly close it comes fall, so it it can sustain winter.
Buy quality chemicals, check the PH every other day plus whenever it rains.
Liners can last 11 years is taken care of. That's how long we had ours, 24 foot round above ground.
I'm going to hold off until I can swing an in-ground. Temp is a bit more sustained, easier to clean. Not as easy to fix when something goes wrong, but it's not often if you do it right.
Shock them often if you get a lot of debris/pollen/shade. DE filter is MUCH better than sand.
We never had an automatic vac, just did it by hand. Make sure you buy a pool with decent rails and supports that you can walk on (gently). Makes vac'n a LOT easier.
If the place you are putting it isn't in full sun 90% of the time the sun is up, don't bother.
They're gonna be outlawed in NH. Seems there's been a coupla drownings in 'em over the last decade...
Come on. I thought you were joking but seems you're not. Why don't they go ahead while they're at it and fill up all the ponds, lakes, maybe close all the beaches on the Ocean too? Why don't they keep people from driving cars, hey, driving is dangerous, it can kill people too. That would be one of the most ridiculous law I have ever heard, just doesn't make sense.
I guess I am thinking 24 round by 48 high
I will get the bigger lip
Makes sense to me if you keep electing Ted Kennedy then your probably not smart enough to be near water... he's proof.
His big head will keep 4 people afloat for weeks.
Rich, we had the same pool. Big enough and deep enough for most enjoyment. Also really a good time when you get 20 people making a whirpool :D
There was about 5 people on my street who had above ground pools. All 5 of them have been removed in the past couple years. One I was good friends with and he got tired of taking care of it.
Check what your insurance company has to say about gates and fences.
Do you know why commercials for above ground pools are only 30 seconds long? Because that is the maximum amount of time you can actually have fun in one. If the commercial was 31 seconds long, the guy in the commercial would be like, "What should I do? Should I throw the ball back to Jimmy, or should I put on a snorkel and look at my feet?"
