Damn, I might have to replace my toated monster with a 696. That's a sweet update of a classic.
-
And Ducati said "It shall have 1200cc's and 180hp"...
and as usual..it's 180 at the crankshaft, not the rear wheel....
Still @ 170 at the wheel is nothing to laugh at...
OK Suzuki what ya got hiding for us?
No more SV 1000...they must have something up their sleeve...
The TL/SV twin will yield an easy 140 HP (150 at the crank) with the big bore kit. (1037cc)..so I really don't see a Problem with an 1198 Suzuki V-Twin making big HP either.
Could this be the comeback of big bore V-Twins?
Honda and the RC-62?

Wow. And thanks for that, Pete. After getting my 1098 I thought that I'd never have to lust after another bike again. You've wiped that away with one link.

"Every 1098 R is equipped with a racing kit designed exclusively for use on the track that has a pair of carbon 102dB silencers to increase power and a dedicated ECU. The ECU enables the activation of the DTC (Ducati Traction Control) system with eight available profiles able to be selected through the instrument panelīs digital display."

The new Monster looks sweet. Too bad it's JUST too big for PTwins. :P
Edit: Interesting, Siemens FI? Is Ducati straying from Magneti Marelli?!
-

I'm not a typical Ducati fan but

Nope, I haven't heard yet.
Monster design has been basically unchanged for 15 years. Had to make a update and overall, response has been good.

i agree - i have a buddy that is adamant that its perfect and ducati changing it in any way is a mistake
to me they still seem like pretty modest upgrades

it's interesting... old headlight and frame are better IMO, but i race a 20yr old bike so i'm probably not in the demographic duc is going for ;)
...and that 1098RRRRRRRRRRR OMG :drool::drool:
