Too much too fast
After about 5 years of inactivity, I thought it would be a good idea to take the road bike out for a spin. About 10 years ago, I was heavily into mountain biking. I gave that up a few years later when I started to focus on freestyle BMX. I never actually had to try to be in shape, it was just the natural result of me doing the things that I liked to do. I had to give up freestyle BMX when I tore up my knee, and then staying in shape became a chore.
So today, I go and take the roadbike out for about an hour and a half. I am a bit wobbley since it has been a while since I have ridden this off of an indoor trainer. I also had to relearn which shifter did what...
- I am having a hard time writing this story right now. To make a long story short, I over did it and I feel like complete crap. When I got home, I was seeing a swirling circle in the center of my field of vision but it's gone now. I am on my third glass of water, but I feel like crap. I am sure I did more harm then good today, and when I go out again, I really need to start off easier.

Re: Too much too fast
If I had to guess, I would say it was around 20 miles. It may have been less time.

Re: Too much too fast
Hope you are ok. Sounds like you might have had a little heat exhaustion.
My favorite road bike story is when my friend John found a pretty expensive roadbike in a dumpster. Not knowing anything about roadbikes he thought he would test it out by finding the largest and longest hill he could find and rode it down as fast as he could pedal. He was going good until about halfway down when he hit a pothole and flipped over the bars. He landed on his chest and slid for several feet wearing only an underarmour shirt. When he stood up the whole front of the shirt had torn away and he was left with just the back portion. He then had to walk home with his mangled bike wearing a shirt with no front. As he wasn't seriously hurt, I thought it was hilarious.
