So here's the deal: I switched the street bike to GP style shifting last season, and I really like it that way. The dirt bike can't be switched, so it's awkward going back and forth between the two. The question is, should I switch the gixxer back to normal for the sake of consistency, or should I just let it go and hope I can get used to both? I'm pretty sure I'm just gonna let it go for now, because I really like gp style. I'd switch the dirt bike if I could, but I don't think it's really an option, since it doesn't have a shifter linkage like the street bike does...

Matt that all depends on which you plan on riding more. I'd leave the gixxer just the way it is and live with the dirt bike the way it is. just my .02 worth

Leave 'em the way YOU like it. There's not much more to say about it. I'll NEVER go back to regular shifting on the street (or track)....:D

I switched my SV over to GP about a year and a half ago, but like you dirtbike, my XV920R's are not so wasy to switch (not impossible) I have got used to switching back & forth no problem...... but could I get used to the old brit shifting with the right foot.... no way

My Aprilia is regular shift and the Race bike is GP. When I ride on the street there isn't much of a problem, on the track where you are thinking of 50 million different things shifting becomes an instinctive thing. I down shifted my big V-Twin on the back straight going into turn 3... Needless to say there is a GP kit going on it soon... So if you are only riding at a slow easy pace switching is probably OK, if you are going to ride either bike hard and you don't want to have to think about shifting, make them the same....Just my 2 cents

I'm suprised that GP style shifting has not become the norm on all street bikes. It is so much simpler.

Stupid question but what is the differance between GP and Standard shifting?

Matt, I had Gp shifting on my street bike and regular on my dirtbike I had a hard time switching between the two I would find myself shifting in the wrong direction in both the dirt and on the street. I also started second guessing myself into corners which then made up my mind to toss the gp shifter. Like you If I could find one for the dirt I'm ready for the gp.
