One of our own seriously injured
Ben aka. Neverlost was seriously injured in a downhill MT. biking accident this past Mon. He and fellow friends went down to NJ to do some downhilling in a park called Diablo. Ben has yrs of experience riding, but nothing could prepare him for his accident. He was riding a trail he'd done many times before, but on mon the surface and lip of the tap top jump had been resurfaced.
Ben hit the jump like he usually does, but this time he was caring to much speed and over shot the landing. By alot!!! He landed about 30 feet past it on the flat bottom. The jump tossed him forward off his bike, and he landed on his left side. He woke up choking on blood. Luckily some other riders stopped and helped.
He's in a hospitol in NJ. Recovering after 5 hrs of surgery yesterday.
Here are his injuries
broken collar bone in 3 places, shattered elbow, 3 broken ribs, a broken hip in 3 places, and sever bruised spine.
I hope we can all keep him in our thoughts. He is gonna have a very long recovery...
thanks for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers

Re: One of our own seriously injured
ouch!! Can you tell us more about Ben, any family/kids? Maybe an NESR drunkathon is in order to help out with the expenses of such an accident.
Cheers to a quickest recovery possible :drink:

Re: One of our own seriously injured
Ben is 28, works as a contractor for the gov. He works on nuclear sub computer hardware. I don't think he's done any drunkathons. He lives in Wakefield RI. He and I have ridden to gether for the last few yrs. I know hes done quite a few trackdays with BOMO.
From what the doc has said. He will be in a wheel chair for the next few weeks or month, and will most likely walk with a cane or a sever limp the rest of his life.
