WTB: Verizon Cell Phone (no data plan requirement)
Hey All,
Looking for a Verizon Cell Phone.....preferably with a full QWERTY
keyboard that does not require a data plan.
Let me know if you have anything!
Thanks in advance!
I'm in Wilmington, MA during the day but live on the Seacoast in NH.

Well it requires a data plan but if you can't find anything else I have a DROID I would get rid of cheap. PM me if you have to go that route.

Wouldn't suppose you can get us good deals on some Droid X's? :) None of them were on promo this thanksgiving.. bummer!
Or... you have any good insider info if there are indeed "better" phones coming out in Jan?

No data plan means no BB plan...
I have one (first gen Samsung Alias) I'd be willing to part with if I could get a working backup phone in it's place (doesn't need to be fancy, but my old LG doesn't hold a charge anymore so I would need something in case my Droid X craps out again). It's not pretty, but the battery on it is great and it's good for texting.

I guess a Treo wouldn't work either then...?

Probably not. Nothing that has any semblance of a real web browser.

I actually CAN get a good deal on X's (if you have some sort of an upgrade available. Also, anything with a real time browser needs a data plan. Or any feature phones like the chocolates and env's need the $10 data plans. As far as new phones coming out. We have already launched a majority of our phones...and I assume a lot of you know whats coming first quarter.....:naughty
If anyone needs help with their phones or need new phones let me know... Im a B2B Manager and travel a lot so lemme know. Im more than happy to help anyone from NESR.

DAMN IT!!! Now I need to hold off and save my upgrade until Q1. I was hoping it was just yet another unconfirmed rumor.

Re: WTB: Verizon Cell Phone (no data plan requirement)
So Ray, any idea when we'll start seeing phone options for the new service? I'm up for upgrade later this month and want to replace my Omnia very soon. I'll probably be going with a Droid X or 2 unless there will be a good one coming out in January for use with the LTE.

Re: WTB: Verizon Cell Phone (no data plan requirement)
Frick Ray... I just updated yesterday. R2 should be here tomorrow.

Re: WTB: Verizon Cell Phone (no data plan requirement)
ok, as far as the LTE... LTE is being launched Dec. 5th with our air cards... Eric- Droid X and Droid 2 global are the way to go. Try to stay away from the droid 2 and the r2d2. They had problems with their slides breaking. (sorry doc, just going by with what i see everyday). Now back to 4g. 4G isnt actually launched anywhere except major city sites and airports. nationwide. So buying a 4g phone is pretty much pointless until 2012. Sorry to burst your bubble. Yeah it will be cool to say that you have a 4g phone...on a 3g network. No matter what any carrier says, 4g only works where I said it does. oh, and it also works on random test towers up and down 495. I know a lot of you were holding on to your upgrades until 4g but I assure you that you arent missing much by upgrading sooner. Any more questions, feel free to ask.

Re: WTB: Verizon Cell Phone (no data plan requirement)
I am glad I am getting the insurance then. :D
Why would I want a droid 2 global?

You wont have to use insurance for a factory defect. You can use the 1 year warranty for that. You also have 30 days from activation to exchange your phone. Besides the Droid 2 global being "global" it also fixed the various physical problems that the Droid 2 had... and the R2...

Re: WTB: Verizon Cell Phone (no data plan requirement)
also forgot to mention Droid 2's weak signal

Re: WTB: Verizon Cell Phone (no data plan requirement)

I live in San Jose and it looks like we're going to have full 4G coverage in the area (probably for VZW to capitalize on AT&T's shitty signal here). From what I hear the T2 will be awesome, as will the Motopad/Stingray tablet.

Re: WTB: Verizon Cell Phone (no data plan requirement)
i would say go with that Alias that SV650N has...my buddy had that phone and verizon is actually still selling it just under a different name so they don't have to "require" the data plan
good info Ray, thanks...hey whats the deal with all 4G not being equal or are they all even really considered to be 4G at all?

edit: forgot you were looking for a full qwerty keyboard

Mine is not quite the same as the current version, but is similar. Mine does not have the e-ink keys that change based on the mode (or whatever tech they use).

Re: WTB: Verizon Cell Phone (no data plan requirement)
yea you have the first gen one...i think they still have preowned leftovers of the second gen model Alias 2 and then there is the Zeal which is the exact same phone as the Alias 2 but with no data requirement...all are great phones
