Bike Backed Over

So today my bike was backed into which in turn knocked it over all damage is on the left side of the bike. It broke off the turn signal, bent my clutch lever, scuffed the edge of the front nose fairing, dented the upper fairing and made it pinch itself due to the clutch lever bending into the fairing. There are also scuffs on the lower fairing (unavailable for order) and the tail cowl. Left mirror scratched on the back of it. Also it literally snapped my left rear set.

I added up the cost for all the damaged parts and it is around $1000 without labor. It was a family member that hit the bike so they would rather pay for it than claim it on the insurance.

Lesson to be learned, don't park ANYWHERE near a cage :(

The worst part about all of this is the parts are about a week home and I am not sure how I am going to ride this back home from where I am as I can't put my foot down :(

Yea and they had 5 to 6ft between the bike and car.

So you going to be doing the repairs yourself?

Yup they cant afford labor rates and most is cosmetic. Hardest part will be the rearset

The only thing worse than 1 part majorly damaged is a little damage spread out across many parts....that sucks man.

Do you have any fluid leaks? Just cosmetic damage?

Not sure on the fluid leaks will check in a bot after it sits for a bit

I plan to buy the rearset but the plastics are the expensive part. 1000 to replace all damaged parts.

Use this as an excuse to get flush mounts

Also finding a rearset used will be hard as this is a 2011.

just bought the rear set and bought a set of cheap mirrors with directionals built into them. Not so sure I like them but I will be getting flush mounts and plan to buy a nice set of mirrors in the future anyway so these will just be temporary.

Could be worse, least its ride able once you get that rear set. unless you like your bike completely black you can see if you can mix and match CERTAIN plastics to add a bit of flavor?

I need to get a clutch lever tomorrow so I can ride it home tomorrow. It currently hits the plastics when I turn far.

Problem is the service dept is not open and ive never changed a lever.

Counter steer to turn! :P I can't see which way the lever is bent but it shouldn't take to long to switch out. It's probably just one bolt. Give your self some slack on the clutch cable and pop it out. I'm sure plently of people on here can help you out. 600rr.net Might even have a how to.

Changing a lever is super easy. Make this your first step in the direction of DIY. Not many tools are needed and it shouldn't take longer than 10 minutes.

Yep just googled it and looks real easy. Going to get a quote for the plastics tomorrow.
