HOOKSETT, N.H. -- A teen driver who pointed a flare gun at another driver ended up firing a flare into his own car, police said.
State police said the incident began Monday evening when one driver cut off another car as they were going through the Hooksett tolls.
"There was a verbal exchange of some kind. I believe there was gesturing between the two of them," Sgt. Charles Johnston said.

Police said the two cars were driving north on Interstate 93 toward Bow when 18-year-old Nicholas Richer pointed a flare gun out of the window at the other driver. Investigators said Richer fired the flare into his own car as he was pulling the gun back in the window.
The other driver called 911 to report the incident.
"The flare gun discharged inside the suspect's vehicle, ignited, caught the right passenger's front seat on fire," Johnston said.
A state police trooper caught up with Richer at a gas station off of Interstate 89 in Bow. He said the flare just missed a child sitting in the front passenger seat.
"Well, he saw the vehicle parked next to some bushes, and apparently the suspect was discarding the flare gun into the bushes," Johnston said. "The windshield was smashed, and the front seat where the juvenile was seated was burned."
Richer was arrested.
Because the weapon involved was a flare gun, Richer faces felony charges of reckless conduct and criminal threatening that could carry years behind bars, police said.
Richer is expected to appear in court in June.

A guy I was in highschool with once picked up a flair at a train track crossing left behind by the train employees. It was still lit. He wanted to hold it out the window and parade down the road, but instead, dropped it in to his car, and while panicking, drove down a line of 3 mailboxes. He promptly left the scene, but a witness got his plate and he was charged with destruction of federal property and leaving the scene.

They sound like they can be friends!

Evolution is probabilistic; that's why it takes millions of years instead of one generation. It's certain, eventually, but not immediately.

If the other driver was dumb enough to pull a gun and shoot, he is stupid enough to ram his car into the other car, which has the potential to cause a LOT of damage and/or injuries. The other driver and his kid are at risk as are any cars, people, or property that are in the way. A car can cause a lot of carnage when it hits an occupied building. Taking away guns does not take away stupidity.

First on average 100 people were killed that day on the USA highways... where is the 99% marching

I would be willing to bet that this individual had demonstrated anti social behavior in the past

Any body can toss a big rock out of their car at any moment while they are driving down the highway and easily kill somebody. Should we regulate access to rocks?

Seriously...who the fuck are you talking to? Is there a single anti-gun person on any of these threads? One???

I don't think so. And characterizing those of us who agree that there should be some control (even PhilB believes there should be SOME) on who is permitted to own a gun, as an 'anti-gun nut' simply doesn't make sense or help you make your case....whatever that may be..?

Well no regular source seems to have a problem with the term "Gun Nut"
so it seemed to me that "Anti Gun Nut" should be acceptable PC speech.
