I'm off most've the week, and our house is usually a revolving door for wayward types...
Is this really worth going to?
I picture it being a shit load of traffic, 98% Harley riders, 1% squids, 1% other.
you can also come to NHMS the weekend of 15-17 and watch some racing.
There is vintage racing at the track on Monday as well!
Sucks that I'll be working the weekend of the Classic but I'm planning on taking a run up on Thursday for the day.
Anyone want to meet up down Laconia or head up with me from the Taunton area?
I go every year as one of my best buds has an epic place right in Laconia, right at the Channel Marine. Honestly, I spend pretty much all my available summer weekends up there.
When I had a street bike I never brought it, I bring my dog instead. I'll spend this weekend running up Gunstock, Major or a new mountain in the morning, swimming/boozing in the afternoon, beer tent at night. Beer tent is a blast if you've never been. I'll walk down the strip once or twice maybe.
Going riding this sat and heading to Wiers beach in the evening also going to be doing that next sat and then going to the races next sun. unfortunately during the week i will be in KY for work :(
Eh...we make the yearly pilgramage to the Weirs, just because. But we try to take it other shit too, altough with the hillclimbs being in Canaan this year, we probably won't make that. But there's still a lot to do in the surrounding areas too: NHMS, downtown Laconia, Concord, Wolfboro, Alton, Rochester, Stonnerstock...there's A LOT more to do other than Weirs Beach...
Same with me. I checked it out when I first started riding and discovered it was not my scene.
Again, there's SO much more than Weirs Beach. If that's ALL you've ever experienced, you're missing quite a bit. That's one tiny little aspect of Bike Week. Spread your wings, you may find it to be a blast...
What is there to do here? Start chasing that g'damn loud and annoying ladder truck that goes screaming by all day I guess. Some good eateries. Plenty of squids and harley douches at 1-2am aiming for the rev limiters. Freedom cycle was fun at least. I didn't go to the harley shop next door. I so want a raptor 700 now. Note to self: stay outta Freedom cycle till after graduation / gainfully employed.
At least you have the place to ride one. That's another thing I lack, though there are decent ORV trails here in NH, so a truck would solve that issue. In VT you better own the land or know someone who does, or you'll most likely just piss a ton of people off and have the cops looking for you.
Screw it I can ride the raptor up and down main st. I bet it takes less than 2 seconds to pick up a black and white tho.
I did enjoy going to the top of MT. Washington and a Kang run. Other than that, the rest of bike week I didn't care for.
I went a few years ago and find that largely correct.
The one event that a lot of riders rave about is the bikes-only day at Mount Washington. I've never had any interest in riding up it, but you'd be surprised at the number of people who do!
Also, Yankee Beemers is having their famous Pemi River Campout this weekend. It's not just for BMW's.
We do the same thing, usually on Wed, from the south shore, stop at the Peperell spa for b-fast, and make our way to Weirs through Merideth. A couple of us head up to Funspot and do a few demos, totally no sales pressure which is nice. I didn't care too much for the hillclimb since they moved to the smaller hill, but I did get a kick out of camarojuana (the band)
Im Going to be up there atleast one or two days between Sat and tuesday. i do completely agree with the " shit load of traffic, 98% Harley riders, 1% squids, 1% other." But i dont mind being the 1%other and looking at all of the people/ bikes. To me its an excuse to get out on the bike and to look at all of the Crazy bikes (whether they are practical or not) i can appreciate the work that some people have put into them.
I'm going, maybe Sunday. I want to head up with the camera and do some farting around with that. I haven't been in years.
I'm heading up Friday, not sure if I can escape from work that day or I'll head up afterwork on two wheels. (Pending weather forecast)
Most likely be spending a good amount of my time at NHIS.
Ill be up in the area on friday to get inspected, maybe ill check out some of the scene or possibly stay over and scope out some races on saturday morning? Are there any then?
