Hello from Worcester, MA
Hi everyone. I was just told about this forum by Jeff, aka "03worc9r." As you can see from my signature, I collect and restore mostly old Hondas. If I'm not riding one, I'm working on or building one. In the near future, I can get into more detail and post some pictures if anyone is interested. At this point, I'll check out the forum and see what people have for bikes and what they do with them when they aren't riding them.

If you insist, here's a picture of my "newest" pride and joy. A 1983 Honda CB1100F Super Sport Resto-Mod
http://i745.photobucket.com/albums/x...psnitmxbh2.jpg
It's now 95% complete and on the road. Work done includes:
Motor rebuilt and bored out to 1123cc's
'94 CBR600 F2 wheels, forks, calipers
Triples bored out to accommodate 41mm fork tubes
2007 CBR600RR swingarm
Custom-made wiring harness with 2014 CB1100 right and left hand controls
Period-correct Yoshimura 4-into-1 exhaust powder coated in high temp satin black
Battery relocated to under seat
Various custom spacers and bracketry located throughout the bike
Hundreds of parts powder coated by me, including the entire motor (in pieces, of course!)
and much more.
This was a nearly 1 year project. I finished in late October, which was a bummer since riding season was coming to an end. What a blast to ride, and compared to my stock CB1100F, this feels and handles like a much newer bike. This was a fun project - especially when it came time to reassemble it for the final time, after a few mock-ups.
Right now the bodywork is out for a repaint in the same colors and decal scheme. The bodywork you see here is going on my son's mostly-stock 1100F.

I don't know Jeff personally yet, but he recently contacted me about doing some work for him on his Ducati. He asked if I was a member of this forum and I hadn't even heard of it. I immediately joined and here I am. So you're a Worcester resident too? What part? I'm off of Chester Street near the Holden line.

Welcome Tom.
This Expat guy kinda sounds familiar. I think his phone is broken though.

Welcome to the forum Tom. Also a Worcester resident here.

Re: Hello from Worcester, MA
OK the 1983 Honda woke me up. I went for the V65 that year. I love those older color schemes. I'm in near by Sutton and was a long time Honda fan. (Bob's Honda was my favorite dealer back then) I'm in Sutton not far from you.

Sounds like a number of us Worcester County guys need to meet up at some point - there's plenty of good places to grab a bite to eat or have a beer.
And since you like the V-4's, you'll definitely like my '84 VF1000F. I'll post a pic tonight after I get home.

Welcome, feel free to send any and all cb550 or cb750s you have over to my garage.

Re: Hello from Worcester, MA
Yes I do like V4's. I ended up trading the v65 for an Interceptor 700 (tariff year). I was thinking about going to the 1000 but I wanted the middle weight handling. I went to a Hawk GT after that. Slowly I moved back in BHP for lighter handling. Now my current V4 is Italian with light handling but the 1100 has more poke than probably any bike I've owned.

Here's my VF1000F.

Very fast back in the day, although it's slow by today's standards. Lots of torque and it doesn't seem to run out of RPM's. It's a fun ride although I still love my 1100F's the best.

Re: Hello from Worcester, MA
Now you just need a vf1000r!!

I agree. Sutton, Worcester, and surrounding areas - we're all minutes from each other. I have plenty of great roads out this way that I think you'll all appreciate.

Exactly, '76 550k - one of those I should've never sold.

Re: Hello from Worcester, MA
My freshly repainted bodywork arrived last Thursday, so I snuck out of work Friday and installed it, then rode the bike like I stole it. I can't believe the great job that my painter did for me.

If you're not familiar with what a stock 1100F looks like, here's what they look like side by side. Note the slightly different stance due to the different suspensions and wheels:
http://i745.photobucket.com/albums/x...psu6emyomx.jpg
The different stance makes all the difference. The resto-mod handles more like a much newer bike and feels very tight since everything is new or rebuilt.
I brought it to the inspection station and the guy spent more time checking it out than inspecting it. It's a blast and I'm going to have trouble riding the other bikes with this one sitting in the garage.
