I cant take credit for this but its pretty cool to see. Watch both videos together to see the speed difference between F1 cars and sports cars in one of the best corners in the world. Eau Rouge

Wing envy...
very cool
Awesome.
Any video of motorcycles racing through the same corner?
:shock::popcorn:
I found a classic bikes video from the same perspective - by comparison to the F1 cars they are standing still!
I'll never forget the times I saw F1 live - the sound is *nothing* like what comes through on TV/Video!
MotoGP/F1, Hangar straight, Silverstone.

is this real? like i understand F1 is stupidly fast but isnt that vid speed up at all?
and i really dont understand that they are that much faster from Moto GP bikes too
Once you know that an F1 car has enough downforce to drive upside down on the roof of a tunnel, you will begin to understand how they can stay that fast while cornering. They also have a drag co-effecient of pretty much nothing except the wing effect.
That and a crazy motor that revs to the moon.
F1 engine test
oh i have studied a lot about F1 and i stopped watching a few years ago (pretty much when I moved here) because it just didnt seem interesting.
I understand the physics behind it I just dont understand how they are so much faster than GP bikes.
800 hp and 2400 lbs of downforce, that's why they're so much faster
Fastest Lap for the 2011 British Grand Prix: Fernando Alonso, 1:34.908.
Fastest Lap for the 2011 British Motorcycle GP: Nicky Hayden: 2:21.432.
(Qualifying best laps were 1:30.399 and 2:02.020 respectively)
these are insane differences in speed..
it is incredible what the human body must be going through at this speeds..
http://www.motogp.com/en/events/Great+britain/2011 - it rained in the race, not in qualifying.
That is a substantial difference, I just couldn't see it in the video.
I remember years ago watching an F1 race, not sure where anymore I didn't follow it closely back then, but one of the commentators said about how fast the F1 cars were on that track. He stated something to the effect of These cars are running around here like motorcycles. One of the other, I assume more experienced, announcers scowled back with a Are you serious? There are turns here where the bikes are braking into and the Formula cars are accelerating through.
Not sure how long that duo lasted in the auto announcing world.
Closest to F1 would be Indy Car. Whats the Indy lap record for the Loudon roadcourse? I think 1:02?
if i ever happen to even be in one (never mind driving it) i think i would die a very satisfied man lol
check the live graphic of a MotoGP race, they brake into a corner and are of course off the throttle, I doubt the F1 guys even slow up!! Yes- corner speed!!
Weird - the circuit maps for F1 and MotoGP on the silverstone website are identical - although the quoted length for MotoGP is .006 miles longer.
Annoyingly I cant find the same comparison for the 2011 GP/MotoGP - the above is for 2012.
BBC seems to imply its the same layout used for both, and that identical layouts were used for the 2010 British Grand Prix (F1)
Yeah, it looks like they might actually be the same, I was under the impression F1 still used the old chicane at Abbey instead of turning to the infield. I didn't see the F1 race there, so I have no idea, I just assumed something like that would account for such a drastic difference.
Nope - both circuits are as far as I can find, 100% identical. Both MotoGP and F1 now make the right hander into the infield at Abbey. Bridge and farm straight no longer exist for either class, and according to the Silverstone site are not used in any circuit layout.
whats the fastest lap by a motorcycle in NHMS?
To give an idea of the braking points, speed, and general lunacy:

That's wild!
Sports cars suck...I wonder how a aerial atom or ultima gtr fares...
