Colorado, Utah, etc...
I am planning a Western Sport Tour (WST). Dates are depart July 16th and return on or before August 5th. Current thinking is to slab it to Estes Park Co in 3-4 days. From there, Pikes Peak and other cool places in Colorado. Then off to Moab Utah for a couple days...probably some off roading. After that north to Wyoming, Montana and back via Sturgis etc. Very rough for now but it will come together. Possible occaisional camping too....
Currently it looks like 1 or 2 committed. I would be happy to include up to 4 more.
My guess is there are very few who can put together 3 weeks but if you're interested let me know!

FWIW, Estes Park is fuckin' awesome. Well, it used to be anyway. I was out in that area during highschool and spent a coupla weeks there. Holy hell, what a time...

Re: Colorado, Utah, etc...
Dave, if that doesn't end up coming together for whatever reason, let me know -- my friend David and I are considering a trip out west in September. You'd be welcome to come along. Fair warning though... we camp every night.
Ideally we'd love to do three weeks, but it's way too early to know whether it will work logistically. We've also considered two weeks but trailering out to a friend's house in Idaho.

:lurk:
Any consideration for shipping bike in advance, flying out and riding back? I have been putting a tentative plan to do that with a coast-coast return.... ? I have been looking at Ducati dealer recommendations in various West Coast locations (getting recommendations from friends out there) to ship to and do a check-out and brake fluid change (due to altitudes in return route.)

Regretfully I have to back out Dave. Not my choice. The Coast Guard is changing my life and I will be moving this summer. More info later.

Im sorry im gonna miss this. I got a call Tuesday that I was needed in Alaska on a ship there. He said he needed to cut my orders quick so I can work on ferry reservations. My report date is July 1st. Im looking forward to the different kind of adventure but I would have liked to do this as well. There will be other trips.

Let me follow-up later this week. I need to look into trip logistics and vacation time/dates in detail this week.

Confirmed spousal consent, a non-trivial matter I might add.
Now on to the workplace consent. Slightly more complicated ;-)
If I do sign-up, I am going to drop the ship-bike plan and join the slab-ers.

I am glad that the show will go on. I look forward to the pictures and ride report. I wanted to go bad. Ill have to shoot for the 2017 trip unless I make it back in time for the 16 one.

If you are interested in cutting out some slab time, I got a shipment quote from sti.
For $485/bike, sti will ship from their Lowell terminal to their Denver terminal. We would have to drop off on the 8th to have them their in CO by the 15 or 16th. Of course the cost would also be higher for one way airfare. I see some fares around $224. The only bike prep required is minimal gas in the tank at drop off. Ad then we would have to bring some small amount to pick up in Denver.
Steve something on this forum recommended sti after using them for cross country shipment last year.
Just a thought to speed up the start, and leave the slab for the return only.
Fwiw.

Re: Colorado, Utah, etc...
Thanks to Tom for digging into this! We will now be shipping the bikes for arrival on July 16th. We have all booked pretty cheap, 1 way airfares. More time in the awesomeness. And less boring wear on the tires.
(Sorry Bruce! Maybe you should not check into NESR for a while! Gonna miss ya bud...!)
