    Questions regarding 2012 R6

I have a track-prepped 2012 R6 being shipped to me in a few days and it has a couple things I want to sort out immediately after it arrives.

One of the issues is that it has a CEL. It's either for the O2 sensor or the EXUP or both. Bike currently has an Akra slip on installed.

Is there software that I can get ahold of that will allow me to make changes in the ECU? Something like RomRaider, for example. I haven't found a whole lot of info other than sending out to be reflashed or to get the bike over to a dyno.
That all said, there are some DIY's to bypass the O2 and EXUP. I'm more curious about gaining the ability to get into the ECU from a laptop

    Tuneecu.

Your better off buying a bazzaz fuel commander though. Then you can get rid of the light and upload maps and get a quick shifter.

You can do a quick shifter with the stock ecu...

True. With Tune Ecu reflash. There were a couple guys on here that used to do for people. Not sure they still do though.

I seem to remember my 09 had an engine light on from the full Akro exhaust and it didn't affect anything running wise.

    Re: Questions regarding 2012 R6

Bike has Bazzaz QS 4 so it's already setup with QS. There are also a total of 3 ECU's that are included with the sale so maybe one of those is already setup to eliminate the CEL.

Seems TuneECU for Windows is NLA. I'll look into the newer Android-based version this evening.

If you have any running and or power issues, look to eliminate the bazaaz before chasing your tail. It's almost always the bazaaz. I removed mine and got a healtech quickshifter. simple and bulletproof.

    Re: Questions regarding 2012 R6

The bazzaz is definitely the nicer of the two between dynojet, imo. Sounds like you have everything you need though. It's pretty amazing what you can do with just the ecu. Bazzaz makes it a little easier to access though.

Check the t fittings those things cause problems all the time. They aren't properly pierced through the wire sheathing or they loosen. That z125 I bought wouldn't start because of a poor connection through a t fitting at the throttle sensor. Once I wiggled the wire, started right up. Just solder ask the connections.

Pretty sure there is a way to read and reset engine codes with bazzaz software though.

You can send it over to Bauce Racing and he can flash it for you.

Make sure the block off plates were installed.

Here's a how to to make the bypass.

    Re: Questions regarding 2012 R6

Assuming it's only the EXUP, on both of my Yamaha's (R6 and WR250R) I had to buy an EXUP eliminator to plug in and remove the CEL with the aftermarket exhuast. There's also a way to do it with simple 'n cheap resistors. I went the power commander route on both so not sure how to get into the ECU or if you can even disable it that way.

Better yet, just bring it there for a dyno session. You won't regret it.

I have info...but I was sworn to secrecy. Although that info was regarding the fz6, but I have a feeling it might also apply to said r6.

    Re: Questions regarding 2012 R6

No turning back now! Bike gets picked up in CA on Friday then travels East to a loving home. Of course, timing being everything, soon after I committed to the seller, an R6 becomes available locally. Because, of course it does...

Not of I want to live to ride the one that's coming in!

Oh and side note, the bill of lading should be printed and ready for when the driver arrives to pick up.

    Pickup rescheduled for Monday.

    Looks pretty clean.

Couple cans of flat black krylon fusion, frame and spool sliders and some engine cases and you are all set to go.

    Re: Questions regarding 2012 R6

It's actually remarkably clean. I was surprised once I pulled it off the skid and started hanging the body work.

Clutch side has a Woodcraft cover but yes, sliders are a must.

I finally have an answer to the CEL as well, error 17 for
EXUP motor open or shorted....in other words, removed hardware but not bypassed electrically.

It came with 2 spare ECU's so I may swap those to see if the CEL goes away.

Fuck the exup valve. Added weight. That Akro is a nice set up, even if it is rashed a little.

    Re: Questions regarding 2012 R6

EXUP hardware is already out. With a few capacitors and resistors, I'll do some soldering to make the ECU happy.

As far as the rashed Akra, it's mostly on the end cap so I'll see about sourcing a replacement if Akra has them available.

The sale also included a full Ti Arrow system along with a bunch of other items....Woodcraft digi warmers, a pair of Pit Bull stands, gearing, levers, clip ons... basically a decent starter kit for someone who might be interested in getting back into racing, for example
