Hello everyone. New to riding and new to the forums. I picked up my first bike back in mid September, a 1984 CB650 Nighthawk. For the short time I've been interested in motorcycles, I loved the look of the older UJMs. Rode it for a couple months, then took it off the road for the winter to do some maintenance, though it was running very well for a bike as old as I am.
Pulled the carbs and cleaned them, new tires, stainless brake/clutch lines, improved some of the wiring, oil/final drive fluid changes, reupholstered deat with some new foam, new air filter (old one had a giant mouse nest in it, bleh), new plugs and wires. Actually took it out today for the first time since putting it all back together and it feels great. This warm weather is insane!
Still haven't really gotten a feel for what kind of riders are on here, I would imagine all kinds. I'm a pretty cautious rider, I always approach new things like this. ATTGAT, and I think I spent more on the gear than on the bike
Anyway, the bike as I got it. It's a little cleaner now..
Maybe I'll see some of you around! I'm down in Norton, MA.

Welcome. Taunton here.
Welcome! Nice bike. I always liked the look of those old Nighthawks. Great all-around bike, decent power and the riding position is good for a full day's ride.

Welcome aboard, apparently to some of the kids in my classes my nickname is ATGATT because Im one of the few people at uri with full gear that I wear when I commute to school, so you wont catch any crap from me for riding atgatt.
Pretty much every active member of this site rides MOTGATT, if not fully ATGATT.
Welcome.

Friendship is like peeing in your pants,
Everyone can see it,
But only you can feel the true warmth.
Seems like a pretty cool microcosm of the local riding community then. Which is a good thing.
All I hear a lot of is "130 with only a helmet man, you only live once!"...
Or the other day while working on the bike, a friend of a friend asked me if I'm gonna be doing wheelies on my "Harley". And that he prefers those "rice burners, if you know what I mean". I let him know that my bike is one of those rice burners, and that I don't think I can do wheelies on this thing if I tried. He kinda just looked at me dumbly and walked away.
Generally forums encourage me to sit on my ass and ignore my girlfriend.
This one does that too. But it has also got me to finally start wearing proper protective riding pants, upgrade the gloves, helmet, and start dabbling in high-vis.
Just yesterday I was letting lightroom chew on my collection of old photos. I found an early photo of my last bike with the temp plate still on it. My knarly jean 'riding' jacket was laid across the seat, fingerless gloves on top of the gauge cluster, and the hand-me-down full-face from the late 80's was hanging from the bars.
Geezus, what was I thinking?!?
Nice ride! Damn clean for it's age!
Welcome to the shitshow!
