I’d love to have this sitting in my garage collecting dust, too.
Thread cleaned up.
Let's not muck up someone else's FS ad with irrelevant posts, please.

Crazy how much this era of kdx has gone up in value in the last couple years. Plus spring pricing, title/light kit and how expensive dirtbikes are going for now. I don't think Matt is too far off on pricing.
Makes me want to fix up my kdx250. Glws.

Timmy, I’m around and in Hamden, working from home most of the time so I’m flexible. Let me know what works for you.
I’ve been told by a few people that $2500 is a very good price considering spring pricing, Covid pricing, and the fact that it’s a plated 2-stroke in CT. Not really willing to negotiate much lower than that; I’ll risk getting stabbed by some Craigslist weirdo trying to haggle me down from $3750.

Matt (and anyone else with more dirty ride experience than me),
How would you compare this to something like a 250 or 200xc? Similar power to the 200? It’s a tempting rig and I’ve been considering getting some NETRA experience.
I recently acquired a well suited 2nd gen a few weeks ago but not sure if I should go street or dirt with living in the ‘burbs of Boston and the liberal communities surrounding preventing any sort of motor activities.
My kdx is much more capable in the woods than me. Great bikes. Got mine for a grand a few years ago. I have done a j day on it. Its a great machine even if its from 1997

The KDX makes good power. It's not as high strung as a KTM 200, but not far off power wise. The 2 stroke powerplant has not really needed much development since about 1992. The KDX chassis is part of what makes it so user friendly. You sit down IN a KDX more like a street bike than an MXer and the suspension is very flexy and soft. This gives the average rider a LOT more confidence in tough, slick, rocky terrain.
A plated KDX220 was my first and only dirt bike. Just enough 2-stroke neuroticism to make it fun, but also mellow enough that I never got in over my head. I rode mostly in Pachaug, absolutely perfect bike for that setting.
hmmmm......
passing this along to two buddies of mine looking to get further into the sport. nice rig![]()

Bummer. I’ve really enjoyed opening this thread everyday for the past couple weeks and going through the mental gymnastics of whether or not I should buy it.
hey, Matt ... my buddy who bought this has been having issues when it gets hot at constant RPM. power cuts out, stalls, won't start until it cools then repeats. ever have that happen? i'm trying to help him diagnose.
i told him to start with the basics like clean air filter, fresh plug, new coil, and to check jetting specs. i don't know anything about the KIPS system but said to look into if it needs cleaning at specific intervals. zero clue if any of this would be related but cheap maintenance and checks.
