    Degsy, calling Degsy . . . .

Oh wait, too much done to it. Devalues the bike, IMO.

edit: at least devalues a bike of that caliber. It would be like putting all types of extras on an OW01.

Killer handling bike. Usually, these are well over $20k now. This one is a daily rider by the looks of it and probably has a lot of miles. Still not a bad buy.

I guarantee anyone who has the money to invest in this bike will see 100% profit in 10 years.

Mint RC30's are pushing $40k now.

Actually Matty, back when the RC30 was out, there was also the First generation Bimota Tesi. One of the first bikes with the front swingarm, as opposed to forks. This was the bike that used to tweak me the most.

I remember years ago a few were around and once they had big miles on them buy design they needed work the cost of a rod or crank etc = close to cost of bike. One of the all time greats a true modern classic.

Bike was a maintance nightmare you had to take the motor out to do any work. Not much of an advantage over a 900ss. Very fragile and parts? good luck. Not in the same league as the wsb and Isle of Mann racer RC30. Good looking Bimota but the SB2 gets my vote for Style

    Re: RC 30 for sale

Thought the RC 30 was as close to race ready as one could buy back then. Much like the Desmosedicci

    limited production
only a couple hundred came to the states
only produced as homolgation to allow concept to be entered into race class .... etc etc

Tesi although it has the ability to turn a few heads because of its use of an uncoventional front end .... in concept was NOT an RC 30 world calss race bike. And if I remember correctly the TESI never produced any race results worth mentioning.

Steaks I concede that F4 is SEXY but is that a bike produced just so that Augusta can race it????

    Re: RC 30 for sale

    Hmmm, Desmoseidici, what engine configuration?
New Aprilia WSBK bike, what engine configuration?

RC30 what engine configuration? No coincidence. It's a perfect motorcycle motor.

Until you have ridden a real V4, you have no idea. Imagine the low down stomp of a Vtwin AND the high end of an i4 and you'll get some idea. Add the beautiful sound of gear driven cams and one of the best handling bikes ever with a build quality second to none and you're in the ballpark of just what makes an RC30 such an attraction.

...and I don't think they had the crank or rod problems of the early vf bikes.

    derek

You want a Tesi? I know where one is. A few hundred miles. Just sits under a cover in the back of the shop....

    Re: RC 30 for sale

    Er....

First production 851 - 1998 851 Strada, prior to that there were 7 851 'Superbike Kit' machines built in 1987. The 851 continued as a production machine to 1992. In 1993 it was updated to an 888 motor, with the 888 SPO in 1994 being the last production year. Race 888's were still being built in 1995.

The Supermono went from 1992 to 1998... IT's the most beautiful Duc in my opinion...

The 916 Strada launched in 1994 along side the 1994 SPO 888. The 916 was available till 1996, or 1997 if you count the '916 SPS' which shipped with a 996 motor. The 998 Testastretta motor first graced the 916 chassis as a 2001 model year 996R, and for 2002 was officially badged 998. That was the last year of the 2nd generation Ducati Superbike, the 3rd gen being the 999 of 2003.

I was so freaking close to having a 888 SPO... freaking Jay Root beat me to the deal. Some day I'll get all angry at him, and then ask if I can get a demo ride.

They were making the 998 up into 2004. I posted the number of 2004 998FE in another thread somewhere here. It wasn't many, all of them had to be ordered before delivery, and all of them were red except for one black one that was shipped to somewhere in Europe.

    Re: RC 30 for sale

Thanks Kurlon The 851 pictured is a '92, but your dates are correct. The 916 was the big error, as it came out in '94, and Ducati raced it in WSBK along-side the then fully-developed 888. Was not (officially) sold in the US until '95.

Interesting, my texts on the subject (Mostly Ian Falloon books) don't show production numbers after 2002, and they usually include race/special order only counts. I'll have to check again.
