Where do ya'll buy your dirty gear? I highly doubt I'll be getting into anything even close to hardcore with my little 4-wheeler. Things like helmets, gloves, boots & clothes I won't mind totally trashing in the mud & shit. I have no desire to look like Travis Pastrami or anything. Just want something other than day to day clothes to trash if the mood suits me. Women's & kid's dirty clothes too...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
Rocky Mountain ATV/MC rules yo.

How far are ya from Plaistow, i'm sure Lis could help ya get sorted.

Riding gear for a quad?
Carhartt
And don't forget the cooler large enough for two 30-packs.
Okay. Try your local Big 4 dealer for gear?. If they're cool, they should be able to give you close to the same deal for stuff "off the rack" as you're likely to find online. HJC's dirty lids are highly recommended, but staw away from their the low-end ones (HEAVY). You don't need full-on moto gear, which is cut for freedom of movement and guards. If you're not hitting a track; some over-the-cuff pants to shed water off over your boots, sturdy boots, and some Wells Lamonts will work fine. Sensible stuff, nothing really quad-specific. There are "quad" boots, which feature a fullly lugged sole, compared to the MX boots which have a sole designed to slide over dirt.

For a quad?
Try Cabela's.
not to poke anyone in the eye here but i see no mention of your local dealers. it might be worth your effort to build a relationship with them. customers that i take care of are faithful and have worked their way into a decent discount. they have a "face" to deal with if there's any problems. try that with a "dot.com" i know I'm going to hear all the horror stories about the local dealers, but man, they can't all be that bad. and i certainly understand how much it cost to be in this sport, I'm also an enthusiast. I'm an indentured servant working off my parts bill! (the replies to this should be interesting)
can't we all just get along? the snake. ssssss!
I picked up some nice gear in Lancaster, Ca last year. Even got my honey KB a nice BAG for his gear.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
Greater Boston Motorsports gives pretty good racer discounts. My cost is the same as their employee cost...

GBM and their sister stores give a decent discount. they've been giving me mine for a couple years now, but from what I've seen the price comes out just below retail in most cases. Plus i don't live down the street from them anymore, so they're not really local.

Show me a local dealer that is worth visiting, and I'll go back to buying my parts/fluids/gear like I used to. Unfortunately there are none around here.

I don't mind buying shit at local shops. I'll NEVER use ANY of their service departments though. I have no problem paying A FEW extra beans to get things locally, mostly just fluids & shit up to this point...
Gear? We'll see. I'm not looking for any hardcore shit. Just don't wanna ruin any 'regular' clothes getting all dirty this spring/summer...
I WILL be in to see you, Bob. Sometime...

I buy most of my dirt gear from my local dealer, it's easier for me in the long run. Even their prices are close to internet prices so I don't worry about it.
I wouldn't just look for the least expensive gear out there, just to get by. Quality pants, gloves, boots and a helmet will make your riding day MUCH more enjoyable...they'll also outlast the low buck stuff by quite a while so the end result, you're spending the same money in the long run..and you'll have a much more confortable ride.
Once the mud season is over, I'm in for a ride![]()

Mark hits the nail on the head. I bought a Bell MX helmet a few years back and suffered with it being a tad too small. It applied excess pressure to my temple and forhead. I just got a new larger MX helmet and can not wait to ride with it. It's nice to put on a helemt and not feel as though your head is in a vice.
