Rides this weekend (10/24-10/25)

This is my last weekend of riding for awhile, so I want to see where people are going.

Off the top of my head:
-Paul - always welcoming new riders out in western ma
-Saturday morning 10:00AM @ oxford = group ride (eddie?)
-Sunday morning? w' Union + Pittenger @ Franklin?
-Sunday morning? w' JettaJay in northeastern MA
-Mondos pops his dirty cherry (where?)

so where are people definitely going?

anyone want to combine groups?

worst case scenario, my buddy and I will end up down in Franklin on Sunday morning

Right now my plan is Saturday morning/afternoon. It is with Richie O'Connor. He posts as hatchet here. However the weather looks to be crappy so it might not happen. Im going to wait until Friday to call it.

I got about 20 miles in with PK yesterday. It was a little wet but not bad. Some good riding

A few of us are running up at clough on Sunday. I'll be up there running saturday too most likely. Was out this past weekend, the trails are in great shape and awesome.

Theres an easy way around all the hard stuff, so they would be fine for a first timer. Rest of the details about being plated and stuff in this thread.

clough is definitely on my list of riding areas, but over 3 hours round trip might not be in the cards this weekend...but thanks for the offer guys

mondos: what are you thinking? my guess is you'll be at north reading since it's a 15 minute drive for you. There's a 20% chance I'll join you and jettajay if you go there...it would be sweet to rock out a couple XR's

TW: I honestly couldn't tell ya...I've never been to JettaJay's trails or out to western MA, and I'm still a noob too!

Sunday, probably try to get on the trail by noon, meaning i should probably tell people to start arriving at 11, cause there always bikes/trailer/hangover issues, haha.

ok, since my buddies (and hence my ride ) have stuff to do in the afternoon, we're doing a morning run:

Dirty Details:
-Franklin state forest, meet at the water tower at the end of Forge Hill Rd, Franklin, MA
-kickstands up @ 9am
-done by ~noonish or before
-pace will be beginner to intermediate

according to MA law, you should be yellow (ATV) or white (street) plated to ride the trails...bring your ATV registration tag if you have the yellow plate

PM me for my phone #, or look for either of these bikes in the parking lot in or near a white, 2001 Ford Ranger, or a blue 2008 Toyota Tundra (if you happen to catch us during a gas stop):

how'd it go guys??

just like the clough thread, it was a wet and wild day out in Franklin...puddles all the way up to the carbs isn't even a joke, but the weather was otherwise warm, and it felt great to get out there!

8:15am start!



we did one loop out in the main forest, stopped for a bit, then did the beaver pond loop a couple times

unfortunately, after crossing the street and climbing the soggy, and sandy left-most hill to enter the beaver pond section, I made it 3/4 of the way up and got stuck!



the middle section was so narrow that a grip got ripped off! I don't even think you can make it to the top since there's a couple roots at the top that can't be crossed...

after wrestling the bike around, I slid back down the hill, pulled the rock stuck in my chain, and got up the right-most side:



failing the first hill, we made sure to power up the second one

my buddy made it up 3 times, but unfortunately I failed each of the 3 times I tried









after it was all said and done, we left at 11am and called it a day



also, has anyone ridden with masstrailriders.com? they had a group meet ~11am and around 15 dirt bikes showed up
