Is anybody dirt riding on Sunday 11/07/10? Where? I am registered in NH.
Thanks,
Nathan
I've got plans tomorrow, maybe next time. I'm working on laying out some trails at my place too.
That is cool.
Anybody else?
We are... but not in NH. Come join us. Palmer, MA
Actually you will need street reg. Sorry bout that. There are a few street sections
thanks to chris and tony for leading today .
turned out to be just 4 of us , weather was perfect for trail riding , though the pavement sections were a bit chilly, the wind made you feel like less of a man.
our first water crossing , the up hill just after was a bit loose, and sent chris of at a 90 into the woods, he managed to ride it out and didn't go for a swim .
then up to the top of the powerlines , and a quick pic of the hill we came down
then a trip through a water filled tunnel under the highway
its hard to keep the camera steady while riding over stones in a foot of water , but you get the idea
back in the woods
for some reason there were these metal ramps that were slippery as hell
off we go to the sandy hill
this is where I almost make it up the sandy hill
I turn around to notice that chris had to stop mid hill to avoid me, I manage to fire off a couple pics and keep my bike upright
chris runs down to help as chris was stuck under the bike with his shirt stuck to it ,
tony takes a front row seet for the show
chris fires right up with a little tug over the top
YouTube - chris hill climb
tony gets a log out of his way
then all of a sudden it was as if gravity was turned off for a moment
and just like that it was back on
back through the tunnel the other way this time
then those damn steel ramps again
then some one turned up the gravity switch again
thanks again guys , good times .

Who runs the tt headlight on that drz? Does it work well enough to use at night on the street? Looks like a fun time, maybe youse will come down for the toys for tots ride next weekend? Like I said before, I aspire to get out with ya'all someday.

Great report Sean! Today was fun... but I can barely type my hands hurt so much. It was a workout to me to keep up with you three!
That DRZ is Chris Bruno. The "main" headlight is useless...can't even tell it's on. The high beam seems to work great though.
loosen the death grip on the bars , and look further down the trail , scan constantly and do not target fixate etc, the same things that make you faster on the track will apply to the dirt . granted the lines are more defined on the track than in the woods.
Oh yeh, RIDE MORE OFTEN![]()

Exactly!
On the track, it's all up to me - I can see the surface and simply have to worry about my actions.
In the trails, you have lots of things hiding (loose rocks, angled roots, etc) looking to bring you down when you're riding near the limit.
I can ride 80% pace and never crash... something tells me if I wick it up I'll be crashing more often.
But - I hear ya.![]()

Sean, you are amazing with that camera... I'm very impressed at how quick you're able to get that thing out and snap pics of us. Would have love to see how I looked from your vantage point during that front end washout at the end of the day... Ha!
Great ride today guys, I had a blast.
As for the headlight, it works ok - Like Tony said, High Beam works real well.. the 'regular' lamp is pretty dull..

Sorry, I couldn't make it out today. It looks like you guys found enough to keep you busy without me, though...
I did manage to get out by myself for an hour today at around 4:00 - and I fell twice! The leaves are getting thick out there!
Sorry I couldn't make it today, looks like a fun ride...and I woulda got in some good laughs
You'll learn quick with Sean...there is knowbody faster with a camera than he is! It's all in how fast you can pick your bike up..I've had lots of practice!

awesome pics as usual sean
how fast are the street sections?
I'd expect no less!
But how many mph? I was thinking about plating an xr200 but the bike is in 6th gear maintaining speed around 40ish
