Bad news: couldn't widen the track
Good news: with all the plowing we've done over the past week, the surface is clean
Bad news: there's about 4" of slush covering the entire track right now
Good news: by the end of tomorrow, that slush should be smooth-as-glass ice
I'm hoping by tomorrow afternoon we can get out there with the plow AND snowblower and widen it. With the temp's that're moving in, it SHOULD be solid enough to get to work again. I didn't even dare walk on it, it was so slushy. Sooooo, surprisingly it looked really good considering all the shit we've gotten over the last coupla days. Apparently the little rain we got just soaked up the snow that fell on it. This SHOULD make for some good riding when it freezes up this weekend and we get to widening it...
Don't come up in the morning unless you hear from me first. I don't wanna fuck with the surface until it's without a doubt totally solid again...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
Keep me up on the Ice haps. I want to know before these clowns.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

Nope, surface is still slush. It's starting to freeze, but didn't wanna get on it today. I'm hoping to be able to widen it with the snowblower tomorrow. I don't dare take the plow out there yet...

I've never heard so much talk pre-storm as they seem to be with this coming storm?
Just an idea to save time and energy, maybe rather than widen the entire track, just try sections to create passing zones?
The good thing if the storm does hit, cleanup should be easier for us Saturday morning than it was for us last weekend, at least we have snow banks to follow![]()

I don't mind doing it. I was just waiting for the surface to refreeze. But it HAS been a pain this year...
I'll be snowblowing, no doubt. Probably head out around noon or so. But the snowblower's not really a 2-man operation unless you're bringing one too...![]()

The track is in rough shape.

only took about 2 hours to do front and rear . I figured if I didn't get it done today I may not get it done , what with the 12hr work day (including commute) and the 10 feet of snow coming this week that I'll have to move around after work .
bark busters should be here thursday (weather pending )

Yip! Track's not looking good at all. If we get the snow some are calling for this week, it's done. Stay tuned...

What we need is one of those things that smooths out the ice.Originally Posted by union

Yup, totally sucks. This has been a very fucked up season for ice - LOTS of snow & shit in only 3 or 4 weeks. It was the freezing rain mix that really did us in though. It just settled through the snow and never froze. Under all that snow is a good 6" of slush, and it's all but impossible to move it. The chute on my snowblower got clogged with it, then froze solid. Even Randy's mega-Honda snowblower kept throwing the track off it's pullies. The plow was good in a few spots, but the rest was just a total fargin' mess. I'm normally a glass-half-full kinda guy, but I'm not at all optimistic at this point...
