we should have added some start practice to the drills on Sun. all three line up, count off and hammer it. would have been good for me
Beta 200RR
So again it looks like i might decide to go up minute, kid might go also. Hopefully we will be able to register. Is there anyone who has pre registered who is not going? If so wana sell me your entry?
^^ you can still register at MX338, Friday 5/27 5-8pm or Saturday 5/28 630-8am
all classes were still available on 5/22, so I doubt they filled up
but shiiiett...practicing starts? there's technique to starting a bike besides revving the shit out of it, dumping the clutch, trying to gain traction to ride, and trying not to wheelie?

Thanks Paul E, 99 percent that we will be up.
I start the 450 in second, realy havent found a hell of a lot of uses for first in that bike unless im in the woods... The 250 could go 1st or second and bouth could go way wrong. Practice is defintly a good idea.. I tried launching the road race bike in second in the rain last LRRS round... Bad idea.
Sawheet! Hope you can make it 6!
How's the thumb btw?
Thumb is kinda fucked. Road mx 101 with it yesterday. I was clearing the big double wich is a sighn that it is healing but it's still kinda like riding one handed. I think i need surgery, but not before southwick.
Are you going to be riding???
I find its better To get an ok start and simply go around The shit show in turn 1, There is always a shit show in turn 1

6 Finger, hope to see you there! you were jammin' last year...
yes, starts are tricky and worth practice. the pad is concrete at Southwick as well. worst you can do is launch too soon and get your wheel under the gate. you don't want to do that![]()
Beta 200RR
fucj...then Mr. Biggity, Kurlon, and Type1 - don't gate next to me in never ever.
I am 90% sure that from me, there's going to be an uncontrollable power wheelie, flailing legs, the scream of a pinned/redlined 2-smoke, and a bike going left and right out of the gate while I'm bumping into neighboring bikes hoping to stay upright...then take them all out...and can't stay upright anyways after getting stuck in a rut.

I say we all line up in the same gate, single file, fastest to slowest. That way, what could possibly go wrong?
we will be called based on previous moto for your gate pick. the better you do the previous moto, the better your pick... although i dont remember how the very first moto gate pick works (?)
and remember your practice ticket! that stupid ticket is easy to lose, you need it so tuck it somewhere you wont forget or lose. the nerves always make me blank and it sucks to jam back to the pit to find it.

Beta 200RR
starts?
My technique is to wait for everyone else to go, then I go.
I usually pick up a couple of spots just due to attrition.
t1: that is carnage! I'll try to practice sometime soon, and see how my starts fare...otherwise attrition method via single file is cool with me, haha
Paul: did you get an email confirmation about them receiving your waiver? If not, then bring a notarized waiver with you per this email:
but even then, I would even go sofar as to say you're not the only rider without a notarized waiver, and still hoping to ride this Saturday. So if you can, get a notarized waiver, but worst case scenario you can try to sign it in front of him and his team during the registrationOriginally Posted by davp

Waiver has to be notarized period. You'll have to wait till the day of to sign at registration now I think?
Gee....I should probably make sure my bike starts.![]()
Oh, and as a reminder for those who only ride once a year:
Gas now contains ethanol, not MTBE. The red Sta-bil no longer works. You must buy either marine grade (blue/green) that is approved for ethanol or the new orange Sta-bil (or equivilant brand) that is approved for ethanol. Ethanol will eat rubber and cause gas turn to sludge in your carb if it is not treated.
Just saw a fuel pick-up from a Stihl saw that was melted and had to be replaced. Not cool.
^ that sucks. i've been fearing that with all my summer/winter equip. no issues yet, but i run all the plastic tanks dry... including the bike.
bought some of that Star Tron shit
