If you were going to ride in the snow that is currently falling, what would your tire selection be?
Snow: light & fluffy 12"+ with drifts over 36"
Ground: frozen
Terrain: typical NE singletrack
Snowmobile track.
Friction spikes prolly.

ride through?
might be a bit too deep...you'll get stuck, so a ski/track setup might be the setup of choice
generally if it's deep, tire choice *can* make a difference, but they pack quickly and a better way is adding grade 8 carriage bolts going inside out
otherwise, fluffy snow is a blast...have fun!

Maxim's shagged old Vee's with screws. 'Cause that's what I got.

Darkside
I was thinking like this guy did.
But after watching this 426 plow through snow, instead of over it, the pucker factor went up. Any downed trees would be a hidden obstacle. Rocks too.
it'll work....get a few guys and lift it

Trials tire all the...wait, nvm
Awesome pic...I have the same with an xr80 somewhere
Not gonna lie...I do miss fooling around in snow. We got some on new years eve up in the mountains, but I worked those 2 days and it melted quickly...
If you have the space in the yard, snow blow a little windy track and stud some tires...as the snow melts, the track conditions will change keeping interesting, or if you run off the track, you will just fall in snow

Yeah. Was fun right up until I realized the bike was really fucking stuck there. That DRZ gains about 4-5 hundred pounds in situations like that.
Had fun ripping through town though. Got some really strange looks from the guys in the plow trucks. Couple thumbs up from the college kids.
So I've determined that with 8-12" of snow a dirt bike can be fun. In 20-something" it isn't. For that you need a proper snow machine.. or maybe an ATV.
Ripping through town? Is there still snow on the roads?
Straight knobbies? Long stops, use steady throttle sort of thing? Sort of like riding in sand
I took the XR and RM around town in snowstorms too...not plated though
Next 2 bubba threads: school me on snowmobiles? Or school me on a ski/track system for my 2 stroke?
i went so far as googling ways to make my own track system from an old dirt wheel and a snow blower track haha

Nice...wonder how a rockon does in this snow
