headed out solo this morning for a rip on my local loop, riding slower than normal and a bit tentatively as I was alone, the wet leaves and wet frost covered grass areas were especially slippery . Not quite a mile into it on my own track I fall over on a little up hill corner ( 1st bike pick up of the day)
about 8 miles into it there was a section of trail that they logged recently and I got cross rutted in a skidder track , stopped dead on a branch and went over the bars in slow motion , when I landed i jammed my wrist pretty good, took a minute to get the bike back up and get going again . ( bike pick up #2)A bit further down the traill I stopped to take a few advil to prevent the wrist from swelling up, as I was putting my camel back on again , I lost my balance sitting on the bike and it fell over under me as I stepped off into the woods .
(thats bike pick up #3 for the day . )
Get going again now riding a bit slower than before and trying to favor my wrist a bit , I start down this trail that I have been on before , there is a series of roughly 10 or so log crossings , some of them at opposite angles and they were slick I made it over all but the last angled one where I slid the front and down I went ( bike pick up #4) . Then a remember as I get to the end of it that is is a dead end and I have to go back the way I came .
no pick ups this time but it wasn't pretty . At this point I decided that "I just weren't feeling today " and its time to head back before I get really hurt .
I was almost home , coming up the hill out of the woods there is a stone wall to cross , as I said before I was picking bad lines today, the front wheel went into a hole and as I gassed it out , the seat came up and pinched my sack on the edge of the seat and mashed my right one, knocking the wind out of me . I sat there for several minutes to catch my breath , and then rode the final couple hundred feet into the driveway .
I still managed a 22mile trail ride but it wasn't pretty , too bad too because it was a nice day for it .
