Oh no, I'm not getting out of Stimilon 2011 that easy, I've already pre-reg'd.
Plan A) Find a newer chassis/basket case and transfer my motor over
Plan B) Drop a newer front end on off eBay
Plan C) Fug it, drop the coin on a heli-coil kit
Plan D) It's junk already, epoxy time
Plan C isn't very likely given that I know of at least one front end available for comparable cost, minus brakes. The downside to B is I'll need to buy new springs for front and rear to keep the suspension somewhat balanced as my WR has WAY soft springs compared to the newer YZ stuff floating around.
What is left to do on your motor?
ahhh, ok...you've clearly done all the research, sorry to re-post known information, hahaha
I put in new bearings but the crank was binding...so I got it trued, and had out of control racing properly seat the bearings to make sure everything was seated and spinning straight. But while he was in there, he found that the hole for the shifter shaft was bent and now oval. He said it would leak forever if I ignored it, so he recommended that I got it re-rounded at a machine shop, we burn in a new seal, and be done with it. But while we were working on that, the same part of the old crankcase that shattered, had a HUGE crack in it on my "donor engine" (which is also a set of mismatched case halves). So the donor motor is getting welded and machined for reinforcement, then the tranny bearings go back in, and after that, I can finally get it back to install the crank/transmission, and put it back together.
and if it runs, everything else is pretty much ready to go!

Kurlon,
What would you say if someone you knew happen to have access to a M16X1.5 Heli-coil kit?

WR200 parts work on this bike?
2021 KTM Duke 890 R
2020 BMW R1250GS Adventure Exclusive
1982 Honda CB750F Super Sport
I can only find a parts fiche for the 92 WR200, very similar front end setup but enough differences that I wouldn't be able to directly swap fork lowers as a repair.
No idea on steering stem compatibility, or wheel compatibility, or other potentially swappable bits.
Helicoil kit purchased on eBay on Thursday, USPS shows it was delivered today.
I was here when USPS went by, they didn't stop and visit or drop anything off. WTF? Maybe it was in a different truck? Ok, I need a 41/64ths drill bit and tap wrench anyways, I'll hit up the store and see if it's here when I get back.
Wrench and a 5/8ths bit acquired. (I'll just drink a shit-ton of caffeine before drilling so my shakes will make up for the missing 64th.) No helicoil. Check paypal, I had it sent to work, d-oh!
I'll be doing my repair Mon evening I guess. I also picked up some exhaust packing so that'll get tossed in tomorrow.
Do replacement footpegs come with pins/etc, or do they reuse the OEM hardware?
good work...looks like you will be ready for stimilon!
not sure about the pegs though...
Wonder what I can do with this? Hrmmm....![]()
Gee, thanks for the vote of confidence!
I'm working with a machinist friend. He's the one that insisted I get the right size drill bit, is insisting on a cut off wheel for trimming the insert, etc. If I manage to screw this up it will be the result of something epic and video will be posted.
Heli-coil installed, front wheel installed.
Front caliper is dragging, WAY over due for a take apart cleaning... will do the same to the master while I'm in there.
F YA MUTHAFUCKAAAAA!
So just brakes and ur ready to go?
your bike is more together than mine is still wtf

I found another sweet bike for you, now that your WR is done.

I usually run the cheap Moose or MSR aluminum hand guards. I'll usually spend the extra $10 to get the version that clears my brake line.
I like the brand that has a plastic roost protector on them, but I feel that for $80 the unit should include mounts, they don't. It's another $30 if you want to mount them. For $110 they can kiss my ...
buy hand guards used!
I bought mine for $30 from craigslist, and I got the metal guard, the plastic deflectors, and the mounts
