Warning!
Mass state troopers were at bike night tonight videotaping motorcycles and their license plates, and looking with flashlights under jackets that covered plates.
When asked why they were doing that the reply was, "some people run, so this way we can identify bikes.
Best idea is to cover your plate when at a bike gathering and maybe use your cell phone to video the cops targeting bikers.
I think some state laws say that the plate must be visible. That's really no different than the traffic cops scanning plates for ticket deadbeats.

I sent a pm with my concern to motorcyclenight! It is illegal to cover your plate. I say we boycott bike night and just go for chinese if they do not fix it.

Who cares? As long as your license plate is legally mounted and you don't run.. I don't see what the big deal is..

I agree they may be the cops but they don't have to go around doing that in a private event.
Hell if I was walking up to undercover cop cars and started taking pictures of the car and its plates you bet your ass a cop would say something to me.

It's a license plate. Either they get it now or they get it later.
Who's to say they don't have plain-clothed officers already roaming about doing the exact same thing? At least the uniformed officers make it known.
Is it really so difficult to just enjoy the event?
i could care less if a cop takes photos/videos of my bike. shit, they're going to be photographing bikes during next year's inspection anyway...what difference does it make? with any luck, you can use it to prove your bike doesn't match the description of one they're looking for.
unless they're looking for you, of course.![]()
