Dude I rode my bike thru a ocean the other day. Rode right along the bottom. Did all 1,000 miles in a row without stopping for food. Just opened my mouth and screened krill. I'm a real rider.

Randy is an "adventure tourer". No harm in that.

Aerostich, heated gear, big saddlebags, "off road" capable, long hours in the gel saddle...

Sounds like a Goldwing is in his future (no harm in that either)

    (The Rascal is next)

+1... it's totally boring... same thing over & over & over again. Just twelve turns & that's it... nothing more (even though Randy knows it's really 14 turns, not 12)

Flat track would be way better though... only 2 turns and they're both lefts, but they're completely different every time!

I tried to stay out of this, cause neither side will convince the other that they're correct, no matter what. But I loved this.
I mean, are you REALLY 55? You talk like an 18 year old punk on a Gixxaaaahhh thousand. Its only illegal if you get caught! Let me guess, you run from the police too, right? And yes, everyone on the street rides above and beyond time and time again, but to think of it like that is just asinine.
And as for breaking rules on the track, what rules are there to break? Passing rules? Let me explain something, I'm an amateur racer at the track, which means I'm about midpack skill as far as racer, which probably puts me top 1/4 of the track day crowd. I did a track day, and stayed in red group (beginner) all day which has the most stringent passing rules, and I had no problem following them and still having a great time.
Nevermind the differences in safety between the track and street, but everyone knows this.
Like I said, not one side will convince the other is right in this conversation, but your attitude about this whole thing is really piss poor. Just thought Id state my opinion there.

Re: who here has attended a trackday?

Randy exactly what IS your argument here? At first your concern is with getting taken out... And then your concern is not having the ability to break the rules.... So which is it? Are you scared for your safety or are you turned off by yhe fact that you can't endanger others? Cuz that's the only thing the rules are meant to prevent....

Re: who here has attended a trackday?

When I discovered track riding, my street riding certainly diminished.

This was mainly due to the fact that my street riding up to that point had been mostly riding around looking for curves. The track obviously fulfills that need so it just made more sense to go there.

Over time, I came to enjoy different types of motorcycling away from the track (GoldWing touring for a few years, and now more dual sport riding).

For me, it's the mix of all the 2-wheel riding that I do that is most satisfying.

I get the same thrill at riding a new track as I get when I find a new trail.

I guess my point is ... Besides money, I don't really see any reason to limit the types of riding. With most trackdays being on weekdays, that leaves weekends open to get in all the other types of riding that motorcycling offers.

No one ever said anything about running from the police

you can't get caught if no one is there to catch you.

apparently you don't know how to fine remote desolate deserted public roads that might see 2 cars during morning commute and the same 2 at evening commute and none in between

my arguement is that going around the same 10-12-14 or howevermany turns in a closed circuit is boreing, your going around in circles,

what do you get to see, nothing new that's for sure

going fast does not turn everyone on

So you ride these roads enough to know the cars driving habits, but doing the same number of turns lap after lap at the track is a bad thing?

That is Randy's point right there. He is a "slow down and smell the flowers" kinda guy. No harm in that. We will all get there some day.

    Now leave Randy alone.
