Calabogie Trip, Aug 2nd and 3rd

Bill (Knarlydog) and I are heading to Calabogie August 2nd/3rd. (Pro6 Cycle is running the dates)

It is seriously an amazing track.

If anyone was planning to try it out this year it would be cool to see some other folks we know there. Sorry, can't help with bike transport or lodging, this post is more of a "we are going so lets meet there" type of thing.

Have fun! I'll get there someday.

I'll be back at Monticello those days.

I'm sort of working the Moniticello dates.

I really wanted to go a few years back... but with all the new tracks popping up, I'm less feeling the draw

Sort of means you have wiggle room.

Regarding the track I hear you, but assure you this is worth the trip.

The only thing I have ridden that compares might be VIR grand (or was it full???), but the surface at calabogie and the elevation changes are just that much better.

Tony, I say this as someone who totally hears you (NJMP, Monticello) . . . you owe it to yourself to get your ass to 'Bogie. Seriously, it's that ridiculous. Thank me later.

I was very much the same, its was always a "want to do" but seemed like a long way to go. I've driven to Barber a couple of times but it was more of a known quantity. Calabogie was sort of more word of mouth. So I committed to go and all I can say is now I know why everyone who goes keep going back!! For me, its right up there with Barber and a out 1/3 the travel time. Its also one of the few tracks I've run on the east coast that can really support a liter bike at full tilt. And as Manny points out, the pavement is smooth, not a bump, ripple or crack to be seen or felt. I don't know how they managed to make that happen through 3-4 Canadian winters, buts its amazing. We inquired and got some story about it not being pavement but a polymer/asphalt blend.... Sounds like voodoo to me, someone made a deal with the Lords of Tarmac for sure.
