The time has come for me to replace my currect jacket. Right now I have a Joe Rocket, I believe it is a Blaster 2.0, but I could be horribly wrong. It lasted about two years, but now it is starting to fall apart. This time I would like to have something with more quality than the Rocket that I have, but I am not looking to spend the 800 dollars for a Vanson.
Thoughts? Ideas?

[standard response]U can get some good jackets from Newenough.com for pretty cheap... i'm partial to Alpinestars since it seems to be a pretty damn good bang for the buck. My GPU 2pc suit has lasted almost two solid years of serious abuse and is still goin strong.[/standard response]

Buy a used Vanson, check on e-bay.
If you were a little larger and fatter, I'd sell you mine.![]()
Thanks, I already looked there, bitch!Originally posted by OreoGaborio

Get something better. Buying the cheap stuff just means less protection and having to replace the jacket much faster.
I don't think Vanson makes any $800 jackets.. not even custom.
But if you got a Vanson at 2x the cost of a Joe Rocket the Vanson is going to last 10x longer.
And there are plenty of other jackets that will last like that. My Joe Rocket was in tatters after 15k miles (pretty sure I had the same one you have), not at all safe. My Dainese jacket looks brand new after 30k miles, with barely even a single loose thread.

I've had my Joe rocket almost 40K miles and it''s just as good as the day i bought it. OX has crashed MANY times in his suit and it has protected him great.
The motogp little joey leather is great, the stiching is absolute JUNK. I've got more seams blown out in my suit then I can count.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
I have 9K miles on my Joe Rocket and it is falling apart. The buttons on the neck are broken, the zipper on the liner tore out and all the dye is wearing off.Originally posted by hessogood

Maybe we're talking about leather vs. textile.
I was talking about textile... my JR Textile jacket basically fell apart. (Not crash damage)
I have 5k on my motogp grid jacket. the only prob. I had was the liner loops riped but that was prob. my fault.

I'm talking leather. If you want to talk about getting the most protection i wouldn't think we'd be talking about textile.
BTW my vanson leather gloves disintegrated from just normal riding in a couple months. I'd be missing my hands if I ever had to rely on those in a crash.

I have a leather non pref Joe Rocket currently and its falling apart.

Maybe the kids stuff is made cheaper then the adults.....
I have a tecknic lightening that I'm happy with, except when it gets wet the dye still runs.

Like Squizz ... I have the MotoGP Grid with the Grid pants and I am beating the crap out of it and it is holding up well.
I wore it 90% of the time at the Dragon with no issues.
Seams are holding and it is now completely broken in.
I just got an awesome trade for a pair of Dainese PT103 leather pants that fit me like a glove. Now looking for a jacket ... who sells Dainese around here?
What size are you?
No, Donny, these men are nihilists. There's nothing to be afraid of.

I think another perspective difference here is I'm talking about holding up in crashs. Nothing should fall apart while you're wearing it, i don't think putting it on and taking it off is a test of durability.

your right you would know best because you crash all the time.

Jay are you talking about a Joe Rocket track suit?
I could see them paying much more attention to quality when they build their gear which is obviously intended for the track..
Build crappy gear for racers and it's going kill your brands reputation really fast IMO. Build crappy gear for the street and you can probably get away with it for years and years.
I have an A*Stars jacket that has about 25k miles and one pretty good crash and all it has is a small scuff (and I do mean small) I would not hesitate to buy another jacket from them.
Oxx wears a two piece Joe rocket leather. Normal street jacket just like mine zipped to pants.Originally posted by benVFR

The motogp is a race suit that the stiching has blown out of. i still like the suit though. For now I'm having it re-sewn the right way where it blew out but I may have the whole suit re-done depending on what it will cost.
