I am getting ready to pull the trigger. Have a couple bikes lined up on radar...Have been looking for some time and read all the reviews and what not. I still end up at the same question.
Do I get the 1000 or the 600. I know I won't use all the power the 1000 has, but I weigh about 225 (naked)and the bottom end torque over the 600 is what I keep debating over....
I hate twisting the throttle and waiting....
It will be for mostly street use, with the ocasional track day here, there, and anytime I have some extra $$$$.
I have ridden both bikes for small spurts, the 600 is okay as long as it stays above 8 grand, is very easy to flick around, and is a pretty small bike in general but fits me well.
the 1000 is a little bigger, WAAAY more power, flicks just about as easy as the 600 (which was a big surprise) and is almost the same size as the 600.......
Insurance would be cheaper as well as the payment, but the difference is not all that much to influence my decision.
I thought I would ask the crew here and see what i get out of it.....Right now the 1000 is my 1st choice,
I been ridding well over 10+years, but have been on mostly Harleys/Buells durring that time, I like the bottom end torque most and rarely go over 100mph......
Lets hear your opinions....
I guess the only downsides to the 1k you listed were price, and insurance, but those don't bother you... so what's the problem with the 1k if it's what you like? Just because it has OMFG top end power doesn't mean you HAVE to use it. I love my ST3 as a regular mount/tourer for the same reason you like the 1k, torque. You don't have to row the gearbox to get it moving, just a lil throttle and go.
My opion is Buy a GSXR 1000 and be done......they are a Torque Monsters

Go for the 1k and have zero disapointment
As much as I really loved riding the bike, I found the literbike I had to be less fun on the street... All that motor WAS a ton of fun, but I couldn't use it without thinking of getting arrested. Riding in the meat of the powerband even in second gear was begging for handcuffs. It (GSX-R 1000) would do an indicated 105mph in first gear.
For a streetbike I'd much rather *feel* like I'm going fast that to be going fast without feeling like it.
Much of the same can be said for a modern 600, though...
For any track duty you'd be much happier on the 600.
I think you should go for the 1k, but I am a little biased.
And yes, I know my BP sucks. Damn new astars pants weren't allowing me to get off the bike. Custom Vanson being made as we speak![]()
The 1000 is a handfull, especially if your home track is loudon for those occasional trackdays, you'll likely never be at full throttle or reving it high on the street or track. Like Mike said, first gear and you're up at 100. All of these bikes scream at the top 600 and 1000, and the 600's are making the power of the 1000's of just a few years ago. My advise would be get the 6 and change up the gearing. You don't need a bike geared for 180mph, and changing a few teeth will give you all the low end you need.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
Get the 750. It is the PERFECT compromise. The beauty of the Gixxah family is the middle child. I've owned two of them...the best choice...hands down.

Get the 09 CBR RR 600 with the Phoenix paint job! Nault's in Windham is practically giving them away because they are hurting so much for business!

Can anyone here use the full power of a 600?

I have an 05 600 RR and I have never had to wait for the bike to go when hitting the throttle. I have the front down 1 tooth and the rear up one tooth and it definitley gives it a lot more or a tourqe feeling and the top sped is still 155mph.
I rode my friends 954RR and it was HOLY SHIT FAST... it was my main reason for going with the 600 in the first place. I wouldn't have a licenses anymore!
Personally I wouldnt vote for either. Ive been on enough bikes of varying sizes to know I dont want a sport bike for the street. They are way too uncomfortable. I would get off after a day of riding and be hardly able to walk.
Look at a tard or a more standard style bike. You can have just as much fun and be more more comfortable riding.
