Well, the 08-09 doesn't really go to 100 in first. I actually dropped a tooth in the front because the first two gears were still to high imo. I think that either the 600 or the 1000 is still more than most of us will ever need in a bike. I happen to like the 1000 because of the torque. It nearly doubles what a 600 makes and that is very nice to have on the street. I never have to drop a gear on the highway and that is a good thing. There is power everywhere. A 600 would be more fun at loudon. But, for street/track riding, I think the 1k would be just fine.
Haha...
Your right I can't even come close to ridding the full potential of a 600, but the same holds true on a 1000 so what is the difference at that point...right?
As for being comfortable, that CBR has to be one of the most comfy bike i have sat on in a while. I did not get a ton of seat time but what i did get was nice...
The Buell was pretty easy on the wrists, but just can't handle the higher RPM's. Which is why it is in a bunch of pieces on the basement floor waiting for a rebuild.
Crank Bearings crapped out. (winter project now) whick leeds me to bike hunting for the summer rides.
My wife likes to come out for rides also, which was another plus in the 1000's corner. I am sure 2 up the 600 would be a dog till I spooled it up.
Still undecided and may just see who has the best deal out there for either bike and go that route......
ANY HONDA DEALER/SALESMEN ON THIS BOARD?..........Shoot me a price!!!!
The average price I have found for new leftover 08's has been 8 grand for the 1000 and 6500 for the 600's.... could score an 09 600 for 8 grand also...
Thanks for all the replies guys...and girls
Yup, I just saw on Nault's that they only want 8k for brand new 600's and only 8300 for the new one with the Phoenix paint job so there is a good chance I might trade my bike in..as much as I love the gixxer I looove the Pheonix CBR more and my payments would be the same!

Words to live by....
Not only can I ride a fast bike slow, I can also ride a slow bike really slow.....
I was just stirring the pot.
I've been riding 600's for 10 years. After thousands and thousands and thousands of miles if I've learned anything, anyone on any bike can go fast in a straight line. I'd buy the one that fits you best ergonomically if you're gonna use the bike for mostly street riding.
I'd rather ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.
If you want Torque get a Twin (or rent the movie). A Ducati 800ss has almost as much Torque as the 1000 CBR.
600, cheaper, lighter, plenty fast and powerful but mere mortals might be able to use most of it.
1000 expensive, Heavier, OMG fast and you will never use it all.
I love the 998 but i can't use what it has on the street. I barely stretch it's legs on the track. If I could do it again I would have found a 748 all tricked out. Thankfully I can get my jollies on the Hawk at the track and ride the 998 at a sane pace on the street.
Get what you want. (although that 750 tip might be a good compromise)

who says you have to use all the power? nobody ever need extra power but it power wil be there if you need it for a quick get away. i dont know the real answer but i still think clutchup wheelie can't be good for the clutch.
i love deno
"fuckit!"
seems to me a bike like the aprilia tuono 1000R, yammie fz1 etc would work better than a full on sport bike. there like your buell in riding position with a 1000x better liter motor. torque for days and can ride the track well if wanted.

Twisting the throttle 1/2 way on the 1k is more fun than full throttle on the 600. HAHA! Well, I'd try out the 1k if I were you if you never owned 1 before with your experience. Someone made a good point for street riding; you'll start to feel hand cuffs on your wrists when you wack that throttle. You're in triple digits as you shift to 2nd gear(stock gearing). The torque is fun and the horse power is great when you can use it. As far as track, New Jersey and Virginia are great I think for the 1k. Loudon not so great.

I bought a 08 600rr for my wife. They have a little more power than the 09s due to new emissions standards, plus it was cheaper as a leftover.
It is hard to really explain how good the bike is, basicly unfair. More mid range than you would expect from a 600, and crazy stabilty, yet you can still do any mid turn correction you can think of. Feels at least 100 pounds lighter than it is.
The 1000s are awesome too but I have not ridden one. I have a 03 954rr and it really is hard to justify that kind of engine on the street, let the flames begin.
Well after tons of thought, The CBR600RR won. I grabbed a black 2009 today from Naults. Good guys.
My heart still wants that 1000 for some reason, but for what I use it for the 600 is more than enough.... I think.....maybe...well it should be..
Thanks for the help NESR!
Pshh I shoulda got commission on that since I told you to go there!
