I may add it has been kept in the closet, out of the harmful sunlight. As a bridge salesman, I must also tell you that the average bridge degrades over time, 5-6yrs of usage is about the lifespan we recommend. If you have a bridge that is over 6yrs old, use it at your own risk.
We recommend replacing those bridges with our new ones.

actually ive sold helmets for years at various shops. when selling a helmet to someone the first thing i ask is "what do want to spend?" if they say they dont care then i show them everything from dirt cheap to over priced. if they have a limit then i show from dirt cheap to that limit. there were a few helmets that i refused to sell to people or at least tried to talk them out of it for safety reasons (ex: dirt bike helmet with removeable PLASTIC chin gaurd, if you ride a dirt bike or ATV you are bound to rap your chin off the bars eventually, so why would you want a helmet that obviously is gonna fold like paper when it happens? most would agree and buy the next best thing) i am by no means the kind of sales person that sells you something you DONT need. people look at A* off road boots for trail riding ATVs. why spend $250 on those when you can get these Thors for $115? DOT is a helmet standard that the helmet must reach, SNELL is just a little bit more of a higher standard. any helmet is better than no helmet, and just like anything else, the better you take care of it the longer it lasts. i personally have never had a helmet that long. when i crash my head usually hits (no head injury jokes pleaseOriginally posted by BusaBoy
I am not sure that anybody who has replied here is an authority on the subject.) you buy a helmet at a price you feel comforatable with. if you dont want to spend $300 then dont. helmets on shelves still in the box (closeouts) are fine. they are in aclimate controlled environment, out of the sun and away from toxins.
