Not available in race mode... What's the point?

I think "race mode" exists so that it can be shut off, if desired. There's nothing stopping anyone from leaving it in "normal mode" while racing. I'm guessing that a talented racer that has the skills to "back it in" for the sake of going faster (not just to look cool) will be faster in "race mode" though.

It has to be disabled in racemode because it would be a complete disaster to have ABS going into a corner on the track. We easily outbrake ABS every time. Rider feel is good enough to brake well past the "slip" point. Just look at all the black lines going into any hard braking corner.

    Re: ABS - PRO...

Yea, I get it... It's just the conflict of naming it "Pro" and it not being for "Pro's" that I really take issue with.

Having designed and tested an ABS system for trailers (back in like 1990) we spent a bunch of time / effort on the control system and theoretical maximum braking efficiency. In the end what tested best was quite simply...
    If trailer moving
    -if brake applied
    --if wheel spinning
    ---moar brake
    --else
    ---less brake
    --end if
    -end if
    end if
Our problem was different than giving "proper" feedback to the driver, which this seems to be addressing, but stopping the vehicle in the shortest distance.
