    Pretty far. Like I said the bar that runs from the back of the shift lever to the shift shaft (part that sticks out of the motor) is adjustable. You can also undo the pinch bolt on the knuckle that is attached to the shift shaft and remove it from the shift shaft and rotate it a tooth or 2 on the shift shaft. I suggest using a marker and drawing a line across the end of the shift shaft onto the knuckle so you know how far you've moved it.
    Then you can use the bar to fine tune it.
