My bike is 25 years old, now what?

I have had this example since May of 2000. With the exception of a loose wire that needs to be repaired she is a fine machine. I'm thinking of another bike for next year but maybe a gathering of other 25 year olds this summer?
    Just a thought.

I sold my 22 year-old bike this year. I doubt my 7 year-old bike will last another 18 years. The valves look to be good for another 3-5 years tops, there's only one lash adjustment left in most of them. Not sure replacing them will be cost effective, another engine might be easier and cheaper; but I may be looking for another bike by then anyway.

    How's that starter working out?

    Hey, how's it going?
The starter is snug as a bug in a rug. Despite all the correct signs the starter seems to have healed itself and awaits another Kawasaki in need of one. I have the starter stored in the house just as you left it with me. The oem unit in the bike caught it's second wind this summer along with some battery over haul'n in the spring and worked just fine. Perhaps the bike was just getting used to the roads in Vermont?

    You keep riding it.

I'll be putting a 21 year old back on the road next year.

Nice, almost picked one of those up a few years ago.

Was it the first bike Honda sold with a single sided rear end?

keep it for nostalgia's sake, and buy a newer one

I thought the '89 Ninja 600R I rode was the best bike in the world until I upgraded to a bike with an aluminum box frame. While I do appreciate the ZX600c for what it was, I enjoy the technology in newer bikes more.

    +1

My father sold his V65 Sabre when he got his new bike and still regrets it. That thing was in perfect shape too.

Re: My bike is 25 years old, now what?

haha, i just got back from huntington beach and some guy rode past us one night on what was almost certainly an 85 or 86 GSX-R750. if i hadn't been watching it go by, i would've sworn it was a new 600 just off the showroom floor, it sounded absolutely mint (none of the carb-hiccups that we seem to get by having to store bikes for long periods up here). there's good-condition smooth and then there's weekly-carb-cleaning/ridden-daily smooth.

bikes have no excuse not to be ridden daily in SoCal, but my guess is someone had taken absolute meticulous care of it (likely). probably a combination of the two.

damn that was a fine piece... yours is pretty pimp too
