    bike decision

For a while I thought I was going to go for a sv650 as my first bike, but I started to think about it a little more recently and I think I changed my mind. I think I want to find a good gs500, somewhere in between 1000-2000, hopefully the lower half, and then get a jacket, pants, boots, gloves and a helmet, take the msf course and get my liscense. This way I will save a couple grand on the bike, instead of getting the sv650, and can learn on a good bike, but still not have to worry about it as much as if I had a sv650. Then once I get bored of the gs500 I can sell it and get a better bike, like a yamaha r1 or something real nice like that. That sound like a good plan that is fairly easily attainable?
    thanks

Smart choice, saving money so you can buy gear! I'd say you're going about this the right way.

I'm so proud! The GS won! Don't get me wrong the SV is a great bike and if I ever sell the GS (No, don't ask...) I think I might replace it with a SV. 2 V-twins in the barn would be way cool. After a couple of years on the GS the SV's will be down in price. A nice swap for you!!

you think I can find a fairly nice gs500 for 1500? I think that is the budget I am giving myself for my first bike. Sadly, I am pretty much in debt right now, so it'll be a while before that 1500 will be here. Then I have to spend like 700 on gear and helmet and insurance and msf course.
