for all those trips where you just want to bring your bike, and only your bike...
what do you think of these things?
http://www.ourlocalguide.com/motorcyclecarrier/
i am not sure about the z1k, it meets their weight requirements, but i am still paying for that and i dont want it flipping down the road.
i was thinking for trips home to albany and around locally when i want to bring a dirt bike and the 50... this way i wouldn't have to pull the cap off my truck to carry a bike?

Why would they use in the sample picture a pick-up truck and a dirt bike? Wouldn't you just put the bike in the back of the truck and pocket the $300 beans they want for that thing?
Maybe a good idea if you have a SUV or Minivan or something.
I think it looks pretty cool....there was a picture of a Harley on one of those, so it must be able to hold some weight....

Heres a condom. I figured since youre acting like a dick, you should dress like one too.
but there are other things i want to bring along and keep dry in the bed, under the protection of the cap.
i hated the truck cap when i got my truck. but i have gotten attached to its functionality.

i love mine but then again i made it.
it's held on with two 2" receivers.
the bike is held only by the tires. i made it adjustable, so i can use it for the dirtbike, the motard and the sportbike.

For about the same money, you could find yourself a utility trailer at maybe Lowes or Home Depot and you'll have something you can use for more than one bike and other uses as well.
I made my own trailer from an old pop-up camper trailer frame. Built a floor frame w/ 2x4's, 3/4" marine grade plywood, then built up sides w/ 2x4's and 2x6's. I use it for hauling anything and everything. Dimensions came out to be almost identical to a 8' pickup truck bed... 8'Lx5'Wx2'H. Made a slot for the front tire of the bike from 2x4's and have many points to tie-down. You could get one of those front wheel brackets to install in the bed, but, this is cheaper and doesn't get in the way of loading other stuff in the trailer. Pics to come if anyon'e interested![]()

thats great, we have one of those made from a pop-up trailer at my house. sounds like yours has A LOT more wood on it though.
i was just thinking i could use something that didn't have any more axles when i didn't need them.
I would love to see some pics of sandmans, cause i was polling for opinion on how well this style works in an effort to decide if it would be worth it to weld up my own custom creation.
If they really do work pretty well i just need to figure out some dimensions and where to get the steel?

Speaking of hauling bikes. I agree that the crotch rocket in the back of the pickup is the way to go. Since i'm gonna need to start hauling mine around i need to learn how to correctly strap down a bike in the back of a truck. any suggestions???![]()

Hmmmm looks similar to what I got from Half Squid with the WR. I like it and it's VERY handy considering my truck has a cap and I'm not about to hook up a 20' enclosed trailer to haul my dirtbike! I did replace some of the aluminum with solid steel (the welds on the alum. were cracking and wasn't strong as I would have liked). It works GREAT for a dirtbike.. can have the bike loaded and ready to roll in about 30seconds and off the back of the truck in about 10seconds.. LITERALLY. The version I have uses NO tiedowns yet holds the bike very secure. But I WOULD NOT use it for a streetbike.. unless it was a dual sport. They are not strong enough for that kind of weight. Even the 426 I think was a bit heavy for it.. well I didn't help by putting my weight on the hitch to compress the suspension when loading also.. but hey that's why I replaced the alum. main beam with a steel one.
