How scary must it feel to ride a bike with an extended swingarm? I just don't get that mod. Seems suicidal. Worse that the ape hangers.

EFI SV650 that hasn't been hacked to shit? Worth the asking price all day.

Any idea how tough it is to swap the fairing for a round headlight? My wife has been wanting an SV for years, but she hates the fairing. Like, does the dash integrate with the fairing or anything, or is it exactly the same as the unfaired version? Can you just swap the headlight in, add some mirrors and blinkers and its good to go?

Search the net, that’s been done a bunch before and I’m sure is well documented.
Probably just easier to buy a SV650N model

+1 just buy the N model. Don't waste your time/money trying to convert it.

Plenty of deals out there on SV's.

Yeah, just don’t see too many clean ones pop up. She’s really into the current gen SV’s, so it was more of a passing fancy than anything

I agree with all above. I wanted to throw a naked's headlight on my sport when I had it....WAY too much of a PIA.

Scoop it up and maybe she’ll end up liking the fairing.

Worst case maybe you switch to a more custom set up. Those gauges are pretty cool.

Re: The Best bikes on Craigslist

Agreed... it's bit of work, but some decide to do it anyway. If you leave the handlebars the same all you really need are a headlight, mounting solution and gauge cluster mounting solution. It'd take a fair bit of stock parts to do it right (including an N top triple clamp), but it can be hacked together as well.

That said, that particular bike looks like it's almost good enough of a deal that it'd be worth picking up anyway and figuring out the rest later. She can either sell it down the road for what she paid, go through with the project anyway, or say "fek it" and ride it as is.

Hell, I half considered buying it "for my wife-to-be" even though she probably wouldn't want it... not to mention the fact she's 7 months preggers... but... you know... gotta have spares, right?

Yes, a non-pregnant wife as a spare would be wise.

got a buddy and his daughter looking for 2 beginner bikes...no experience with motorcycles or maintenance...also both not very tall...i think they are looking for something like the honda rebel 300 or 500...if anyone sees any used at a good price in the RI area i will pass them along...i have already sent them quite a few that i found on marketplace...any other good resources for used bikes...i think they want to buy from a used dealer like a moms so they have some type of warranty

Presumably you've already explained to your buddy that a principal reason one gets a modern EFI Honda is to devote zero additional attention to the possibility of it needing warranty service. :/

I have a 2016 (bought as a leftover in 2017) Yamaha R3. Sits low, mostly upright ergos. 8xx miles (yes 800-somethingish miles). Been garaged forever. Brand new lithium battery not even installed yet. Only mods are shorty levers, graves low mount exhaust, integrated led front signals and a smoke, LED integrated tail light/tidy tale . pretty much immaculate. Started and ridden last year before the battery died. Original female owner (but I rode it a few time also). Not sure what they go for, but pretty much immaculate. Matte grey and vinyled teal over the red striping. The only issue is that is sat in the garage for 2 years and mice made a nest and ate the insulation off of a ground wire. The bike still runs and rides perfect, just don't want to NOT put this in writing. Pretty easy fix, just no time to do it.
