You know, as a powerplant in a new KXXXXLT..it'd actually be somewhat sane.

    Re: BMW I-6 concept

So BMW went with a conventional design for their first true sport bike, which is turning out good reviews for them so far, and now they have decided to go back to creating overly complicated versions of things they are not known for...... anyone remember the BMW street carver (the $500 skateboard that was overengineered to pieces).

On another note, I wonder how the cost of this thing compares to a v-4, as it still has only one valve head, but obviously has 2 more cylinders worth of valves that it needs to take care of.

What will hang out the sides further, the horizontal two cylinder or the inline six?

Well, marketing wise, they might be able to tap into their long in-line 6 auto engine heritage. You might be able to drag in a few more status conscious yuppies with it, and yeah, it might make a sweet touring motor.

    Re: BMW I-6 concept

IL6s are awesome, but being a pragmatist, I would not want one on a bike. There's no advantage gained, so it's a matter of function following form.

bet it'd sound nice with some pipes... revs to 9k which is semi/pretty high for an open displacement tourer
