I want to "test sit" a Ninja 1000 as it seems to have more room than the SV650 I have.
Any recommendations? The website lists Riverside, Greater Boston Motosports, and North Reading.
Jerome @ Riverside has been my personal friend (and co-worker when i was there) for awhile now. Give him a shout I'm sure he'll treat you well.

North Reading is close to me. He pissed me off when I went to see the new 650R when it came first came out. I wanted to sit on one after reading about it on the internet basically all winter. He said he had one and it was in the crate. When I asked when he would have a chance to build it the reply was "as soon as you give me a deposit." I walked out and went up to Nault's, sat on one and rode home it the next day.
Short version: Nault's in Windham. Not much further than North Reading up 93 for you.

+1 for Jerome, he is a good man.

Can one of you shoot me his email?
+1 for Nault's Windham -- Cliff in sales treated me right.
And don't believe everything you think.
I'm pretty sure the absolute best way to get in contact with Jermome is via phonecall. He's a little old fashioned, so I'm not sure if email is the best means of contacting him. I've seen him type on the keyboard...it's pretty painful lol

Why on earth would you need the email for a salesman when all you want to do is sit on it?
Go to dealer, sit on bike, if you like it make an offer and buy it.

Its not Boston or North Shore but Souhegan Valley Motorsports in NH easily has the best customer service out of any dealership I have been to

North Reading seems to be better than it was a few years ago, and I'm pretty sure they have a 1000 there. Every time I've gone there to sit on a bike they always pull it out of the lineup for me.
I thought you were all kinds of anti Kawasaki?

Rode over to Riverside this morning and test-sat the Ninja 1000. It is quite a bit more roomy than the SV650. The left peg could easily be lowered, the right peg would need a new bracket machined.
Spoke with the business manager about the bike and met Jerome on the way out. They were pretty accomodating and were willing to offer a reasonable price to trade in the SV650 if I was interested. They haven't ordered 2012 inventory so whetehr to buy a left-over 2011 or a 2012 is TBD, as is a decision to buy it at all.
I suppose all the Kawasaki ride events are long past?
All of the Ticket To Ride events wrapped up in August, but Kawasaki has an internal demo program through its individual dealers, with select bikes. Riverside is one of the dealers, and the Ninja 1000 is the one bike they have available to demo almost everywhere.
The other route is to wait for one of the dealers to have an 'open house' event, some will have group demos. I got a ride on the Ninja 1000 that way at Souhegan Valley earlier this year.

You don't know his last name?
OK, I emailed them but seem to have gotten an auto-response.
There is a new one on eBay with a buy-it-now price of $9,495.

I might want to check out the Yamaha Super Tenere also. So Yamaha dealer?
Parkway Cycles in Everett is a Yamaha dealer, only know people in parts and haven't been hearing the best things about them as a dealer lately.
Cycles 128 in Beverly is also a Yamaha shop.
I know Plaistow Powersports had a Tenere sitting on the floor last weekend. Chris Mackin is the GM (currently running their service Depeartment) and I am sure if you talked to him he would be helpful. If so inclined you can mention that Joel Robie told you to contact him about the Tenere. I would call to verify that they still have it there before making the ride 603-612-1000. Plaistow Powersports is affiliated with Parway and Cycles 128 but Chris seems to do a better job of taking care of the customer than the others.
Seeing as you have already been to Riverside, Yamaha's website indicates that they are a dealer as well.
Sheppo might be able to get you in touch with someone at Billerica Yamaha. (I think he used to work there).
Joel
I went to Cycles 128 when I was first looking for a V-Strom. They told me they didn't have any in inventory, didn't order any, and suggested that the BMW F800GS (which they don't sell) might be a good choice. The sales manager said they might have one at the other dealers but never called me back. It was in March when nothing was going on. Sales Prevention Team at work....
