Edit - ^ Yeap, that one.

I meant the Kawi. Mine gets confused for a CBR all the time. It's actually kind of funny.

See, you know what you want! Go buy the bike that YOU want and like the looks of and don't listen to the clowns posting in this thread. If the same clowns keep telling you otherwise, tell them to fuck off

    YEAH! WHAT HE SAID!

We suck for trying to help you not get raped by a dealership!

Seriously, I really don't care WHAT he buys, I just hate seeng new riders who don't know any better get completely bent over by a dealership just because they don't know any better. There are PLENTY of good deals out there if you look around. There's absolutely no reason to rush out to a dealership at this time of year.

So what happened to that 2011 600rr you bought this summer? To answer your question, the Japanese bikes are pretty much on par with one another, so brand is a cheer matter of preference.

Price is a bit high IMO, I wouldn't offer more then 4400 with hopes of a counter offer around 4500 maybe 4600

    true I can get a 2007 on craigslist for $4500: http://nh.craigslist.org/mcy/2669254146.html

The guy has yet to respond via email and does not list the phone number so it's just a waiting game now.

He simply needs to find a dealership that wants to make a deal...and this is the time of year to get the deal if you want a new bike. Being educated about how to buy a bike is one thing, being told not to buy the bike/model he wants is another! Doesn't take much back reading here to see what direction this thread went. Maybe all the pros here can offer the guy advice on HOW to buy the bike HE wants??

If you look around and are willing to wait something will come your way. there are deals to be had everywhere. financing is available through just about any bank or credit union also. good luck. http://nh.craigslist.org/mcy/2615150979.html

I am very glad people told me to not buy a new bike when I first got one. Did I want a new repli racer? Yep. Could I afford it? Not without going into alot of debt for a toy.

I financed my car and bought my first bike with cash. Wasn't until my 4th bike that I financed... used.

I think wa are just trying to pass on wisdom.

Very true. My "racing days" were pretty much over 3 years ago when my son was born/ I had my collarbone snapped.

Maybe "wildcard" would be a better way to put it.

Re: Brand Matter or just Preference?

ok. I want a new pretty bike.... who doesn't? That doesn't mean I am going to buy one. I have been looking and looking and contacted a few sellers and will see where that goes

It's not about the bike being "new and shiny" it's about me not knowing what to look at, etc. That was my first new bike, I had a 2006 Katana 600 and a 2008 CBR, granted the 2008 is still relatively new and only owned for a month before it was stolen.
