So I was lucky enough to find time and a bike available to rent and even more fortunate to stumble across roads just like the "Tail of the Dragon" Only more mileage of twisties!!! I logged on 285 km in just a 24 hour time frame on a Yamaha XT660R. Nice ride, would be nice to see these here!
Rented the bike and saddled up after delivery @ 2PM, then headed up the coast slowly working my way west to Lagos then continued on a slow pace touring and checking out the scenery and looking for hidden roads to the ocean front along the way East towards Portimao, then finally around 8:30 finding my way back to my hotel in Alvore.
Day two I got up early grabbed a quick breakfast in the hotel then was off to find some mountain roads a few people suggested I check out on the bike. So off to the Seira DeMonchique which was definately well worth seaking out!!! WOW! Increadible road. I was on a dual sport Yamaha XT660R with knobbies and it was lightly raining in the mountains so I had to take it easy. If it was dry and I had my Duke this area would have been like ripping on a race track! Smooth roads nice twisties ranging from long sweepers to tight hairpins. Only major issue I found with the raod was the logging trucks running up and down taking up a good portion of the road as well as kicking up dirt into the road. Other than that I had a blast and was able to take a lot of pictures. there will be more pictures of the rest of my trip sight seeing off the bike when I find the time. There is about 1200 pictures to go though and upload onto photobucket... Lots of work to do...
Here is the Bike portion of my trip, with stil a few pics to up load still.
