Out of control body shakes ruin the ride?

At 4pm yesterday I warmed up the bike, put on my warmest gear and went for a quick 50 mile ride. Seemed like a good idea at the time.

As the sun set and the shadows grew larger along the roads I was getting the distinct feeling that the day's warmth had passed and I was in for a frosty return home.

After 2 pit stops with gloves tucked in under the carbs to defrost them while getting a coffee I set out on the last leg of the trip which had me mostly in the darker section of the woods and cooler as a bonus. Good for me.

About 7 miles from home it started, a twitch here and there, followed by a few seconds of shuddering and then what felt like aftershocks. Was it the bike or the road? My hands were numb and I gave up using the clutch to up shift. I was in state, as my feeling for the foot pegs had diminished and my efforts to contain heat had my knees pressed into the tank.

Yup, it was cold out and so was I. For Christmas this year I will ask Santa for a heated vest and grips to extend the riding season.

Gotta love fall in New England.

yah the ride in this morning was a bit nippy. but heated gloves do the trick. if you are thinking of a vest you can get the long sleve jackt liner and gloves that all connect.. and not have to modify your bike other than adding a plug lead off the battery.

We're going to have some blow out specials on a few pair of left over electric gloves from Widder. Come to the Halloween pose at DUNCANMOTO next Thursday the 30th and you can see them.

I road from Great Bay up in NH down to boston non stop at highway speeds. I must say my hands stayed pretty warm considering (whenever they started to go numb I would just wiggle them around). I had full leathers on with a wind breaker over the top. Still a bit nippy though!!

Go heated liner, not just the vest. Gerbings make top notch stuff.

Would of rode in this morning, but my ice indicator bucket showed ice. Turned out there was quite a bit on the ride in. Looks like my riding days to work are going to be restricted to the warmer rainy days from now on.

+1 on the liner over the vest.
    Gerbings or first gear.

Yup, getting weak in my old age.
How's Florida this time of year? Flat as always...never mind then.

Strange, I'll brave frozen toes and a face to play hockey outdoors for 6 hours with a frozen disk but a 1 hour ride has me shaking like a leaf.

    Pfffttt!
