HP specs are commonly published in two flavors: Crank and Rear Wheel.
I'm assuming RW comes from the dyno, how is Crank tested?
Can you extrapolate one from the other?
Some manufacturers like to publish Crank HP, probably b/c it's higher...
Thanks,

Can't say for certain, but I thought they got the crank HP when they 'bench test' 'em...

BHP= Brake horse power
The power it takes to "brake" a flywheel "drum" of a certain size and weight at a certain speed, basically.

And in these days of legalities and all that other bullshit...to claim '125hp engine' you have to show the ENGINE's horsepower, not what gets to the wheel after it gets through the drivetrain to the ground.
Plus, 125 sounds much more bad ass than 105.![]()

I was busy workin' anyway....
So..what's the difference between an inertial dyno versus an eddy current dyno?![]()
Too old to rock and roll, too young to die.
Eddy current helps your dyno, unless of course it "helps" you into a keeper-hole.Originally posted by TLRMan

a system that measures work (Torque/Horsepower) based on the acceleration of an object of a known mass.
and eddy current dyno has something to do with measuring braking power?
haha search engine, how wonderful.![]()
