and yup i fucked up either way, wont stop me from speeding. I dont find it fun to go 35 on a bike when there is a mile of straight road in front of me, the only thing im getting out of this crash is to know the road before you tear it up...
One small point - that works only as far as you can see. For corners that you can't see through, even if you've been through them 100 times, it's safest to assume that there's a truck parked just beyond the furthest point you can see.

That's not a comment on being stupid or f*ing up, it's just advice to help in the future (worth what you paid for it). Since it's advice not criticism, I think I'm still allowed to say - I'm glad both you and the bike are OK!

glad you're ok. my street crash was ugly. we've all been there.
i rarely speed unless i feel it is safe to do so...it was 6:30 in the am down a backroad with no traffic on what looked like a perfect stretch of road to open it up on, grass to the left and right no stone walls and trees where at least 100 feet away from the road on either side. when you say "public" road i think of a road used heavily by cars and this is not such a road, the road is pretty much hidden unless you know exactly where to turn onto it, ive passed it many times but never went down it until today....but now i will stop defending my actions and i will just leave it at that.

For what it's worth, Dan, I agree with ya... but at the same time the guy knows what he did wrong. You don't have to sound cold to make a point that he already got.

Frankly, I think it's kinda ridiculous that every "I crashed... it sucked but I know what I did wrong" thread turns into a lecture. Sometimes I fall into that trap, but I try not to be cold about it.

glad to hear your ok, but you need to learn how to ride and stop your bike.

shit does happen but i wish i had a dollar for every time iv'e read or heard about someone going to fast and locking up the rear brake.

    Re: my first crash....

yeah locking up the rear brake was my problem, I know what i did, there really wasnt enough time to react to what was happening just a kind of oh shit moment. but whatever im not looking for pitty just wanted to tell a story of how my morning went, Ill try practicing crashing more often maybe that will help overcome human instinct. but enough of shitting on the kid who doesnt know how to ride lets talk about titties!

Let me put it this way... when I'm teaching people how to ride, which I kinda do on a fairly regular basis, I never act like a condescending dickhead, not even if they make a mistake that can get them killed out on the street.

You don't have to be a condescending dickhead to make a point and teach people something that can save their life.

Not saying you're being a condesceding dickhead in this case (yet), but I'm trying to make a point...

Wasn't there a discussion about track riders and elitism only a couple weeks ago?

I can't imagine saying things like "learn how to control your bike better" actually helps someone learn anything.

    THANK YOU!

An SV650 is way too big of a bike for the street. You'll never use all the brakes.

    Re: my first crash....

not to drag this on but i have been on the track and when i went off the road it reminded me of seeing at least three people on the track doing the same thing, seeing that they are going to not make the corner and panicking, locking up the brakes and going down into the grass. so yeah it happens, i do know how to ride just not at a race level....80 mph isnt race level its highway speeds...

Oh man, that picture is so awesome (knowing that you got up & walked away). That was crazy to watch happen in person.

Yeah but you weren't on the STREET... You were on the TRACK where nothing ever bad happens.

I was just crackin a joke man haha. We've all been through similar shitty situations before. Sounds like both you and the bike faired pretty well all things considered which is awesome. Can't complain with a cheap lesson learned.
