Haven't posted here in a while, and was planning on coming out of hibernation. I was harassing WordTooYoMamma for months to get his bike in working order, and what happens? I crashed my bike.
I knew it was a matter of not "if", but "when" from the beginning so it wasn't traumatizing.
Basically:
1. Me traveling eastbound.
2. Dickhead traveling westbound.
3. Me still traveling eastbound.
4. Dickhead makes a left turn into convenience store parking lot.
5. Me locks front brake and gets tossed trying to avoid collision.
6. Dickhead goes into store and buys lotto tickets because he doesn't have a fuck to give.
8. Dickhead gets a citation.
Had some road rash on my knee and was sore as hell for a few days (ATGATT), but still managed to make it to work for graveyard that night. Not a scratch on my helmet, leather jacket ripped in half at the seams & abraded, and palm on my glove ripped open at the seams.
No clue how I went down because it happened so fast. Cracked the entire tail. Put a dent in the left side of my tank (possibly from my elbow?). The sliders looked like they did their job, but the right fairing and front fender are scratched up from sliding. Some abrasions/dents to the exhaust.
Happy start of the season to me.

Glad your good and mostly uninjured. Heal up.
That sucks! Glad to hear you are ok!
Helmets make awesome weapons to windshields.
Welcome back. And welcome to the club!

Nope. Still considered a M/V crash with 2 vehicles involved.

You know what they say about any crash you can walk away from... Could have been worse. Glad you made it out ok.
Describe the "other guy"? Texting teen, old fogey, soccer mom or something else?
You had it right from the beginning, unfortunately. It's not a matter of 'if,' but 'when.' Glad AtGATT helped you out.
Friend: man riding this really hurts my balls
Me: Well you're not supposed to sit on your balls!
Wirelessly posted

"Walked way" is all that really matters... now the insurance games begin
About 20 years ago I had some kid cut me off (I was barely 20 myself) and I went tumbling but never hit his car, got paid full amount (100% his fault) but I did use one of those "800-motorcycle" lawyers since I barely spoke English
My last incident with a cager couple years back, she ran a stop sign, plowed me off the bike and got a citation, still her insurance was trying to pin some blame on me, first 10%, than 5%... I told them where to go and "See you in court!" Didn't come to that, after some more back and fourth they accepted 100% responsibility. Total claim was close to $3K including gear ($1000 was gear replacement and $2000 bike repairs) according to our state law (RI) gear gets reimbursed 100% regardless how the fault splits, so I was fighting them over $200 difference (10% of repairs) and they were not going to go to court and waste time for such a small amount, neither was I, but had to keep the bluff going.
I suspect that accepting even 10% fault would have resulted in insurance hike much more than $200 I chiseled out of them.
They (insurance) claimed to have an investigator make a conclusion about my fault percentages, I asked if he was a motorcyclist, and since he did not have Motorcycle endorsement he could not have possibly been qualified to investigate the accident, that was one of the turning points of my battle.
Me thinks I should have gone to law school, at times it was a hassle but overall it was a fun game!
