If anyone wants some first-hand info on the Trike accident, there's a guy on the VFR forum who was one of the bikes which ran into the crashed Trike.

Pretty much sounds like the Dragon is getting too popular for it's own good. Also sounds like the trike was going to fast. Very easy to get over your head on that road.

he wasn't new to riding so unlikely. just saying it could be something with the bike. if you do speed limit you could grab a handful of brake and you will not go down unless there is obstacle, like sand, but it would have been mention already.
i still don't believe in target fixate.
"fuckit!"
Not a mistake? Are you kidding me? Were you new to riding when you kept crashing or were those all on purpose? ... & now you say you don't believe in Target Fixation.... c'mon dude, seriously.
Kham, there's 1000 reasons why he could have grabbed too much brake & the sooner you can come to the reality that people can crash even w/o sand, gravel etc in the road the safer you'll be.
Some people call it "Running out of Talent". Regardless of speed, you CAN lock up the front if you snatch that brake lever & it becomes easier to do so the more leaned over you are. Ever see a racer tuck the front? Guess what... too much front brake can do that... but you don't see them blaming the tires or the bike, do ya? No... they went in too hot, trail braked a little more than the tire let them & tucked it... Ran outta talent.
As for target fixation... Oh trust me... there IS such a thing. Maybe you're better than everyone else, but it can happen to just about anyone. I've seen it happen to others, I've had it happen to me. Shit there are videos that show examples of target fixation all over the net.

i know there's 1000 reasons but look at what's likely here.
he wasn't new to riding.
the speed limit of sharpest turn there is what, 20?
im leaning toward speeding despite the police comment. either that or the tire.
this is just what's likely. im not betting any money.
"fuckit!"
Kham... go ride around a corner at 20mph & grab all the brakes you can as hard & fast as you can... lets see what happens.... Hell, i'll even help you pick yourself & the bike up off the ground.
Obviously none of us know what happened, but how can you possibly think he crashed for no reason other than his tires? That's what gets me, the first thing you blamed was the rubber. Stop it, you're not a crash reconstructionist.

Kham has obviously never ridden the dragon. I'd like to see most anyone do the speed limit through 90% of the corners on it. I'll shake their hand.

fuck you man. you think you're so smart. you just want to oppose everything i said. what does it mean likely? i didn't claim im "reconstructionist". i wouldn't think anything if i read "new rider go down". thought i saw something about beenr iding the track. look you believe what you want and i believe what i want.
i grab a handful of brake many times around the curve but i have plenty of room for error. that time when Chris Sedition crash. i grab a handful from 60mph but i was almost upright first. again plenty of room for error.
"fuckit!"
oh and that was 20 over. small road speed limit 40 or 45 i think.
"fuckit!"
... says the guy who said it's gotta be the tires. Guess that makes two of us, eh?
& wrong again... you're the one that's acting as if they know it all. The only thing that makes me smarter is i KNOW i don't know it all.
And no need to get all pissy, it's a conversation not a fight.

Speed is 45 and 55 in TN and lower in NC.
Ride it at 50% and you will have 80% moments
Ride it at 80% and you will have problems -
I like squashy front brakes - friend had a habit of grabbing a handful he soon stopped after putting braded lines and better pads on.
Kham I hate when everyone gangs up on you...
But you deserve it this time.
FUCK GUYS!!! I think this is getting off topic. Regardless three people died. Its a tragety that should remind us all that we've chosen a sport that is very dangerous, has few room for errors, and has major consiquences when mistakes are made.
And...if you read what was said on this thread by the publisher, or any of the news paper clippings. He slid under a guard rail. I mean... thats just bad luck! He probably would have walked away, or at least had minor injuries if the rail had stopped him.
Kham ... stop taking yourself so seriously.
Funny is when one can step back and laugh about one's inadequacies.
Sad is when someone takes themselves so seriously that admitting a
screwup gives them a nervous breakdown. Nobody is perfect and the
harder you try to be perfect, the more that people will remind you of
your faults.
The last person that walked on water was crucified.
Oreogitoreo is only good up to the miracle ... after that it is out of his
hands. We will crucify him if he does start making miracles.
Now do you still want to be on that short list?
Or are you going to admit that you are a fuckup like the rest of us?
I walked on water once.... well... actually it wasn't water... turns out someone peed on the floor.
Does that still count?

last time. i don't mean any disrespect for any fallen riders. just saying it doesn't make too much sense when ' i ' put things together from above post. basically say someone like one of you racers, not newbie, who did posted limit and all of a sudden grab a handful of brake. from experience around here i know there is lots of room for error at posted speed limit. unlikely there's any obstacle there or it would been mention or got clean out because so many people rides there. just doesn't add up.
im not claiming any expertise so shutup about that. just doens't make too much sense that's all. not a big deal if you don't think so but im not gonna be too happy being accuse of something that isn't true.
