Re: my f'd up clavicle pics

    bones keep shifting... = painfull

gonna be PISSED if this doesnt heal by August BOMO td...

went for an MRI yesterday cuz i keep getting muscle spasms and numbness and sharp pains that they think is cause by some muscle or nerves caught in between the bones... they switched me to a more powerful anti inflamatory.. see if it helps.. doesnt seem to so far.. i keep telling them to just operate and get it over with.. im going to FLIP if i go through weeks and weeks of healing only to have them say i need it.. id rather just do it now. WTF!!??

    thanks for asking...

my being a type-A personality isnt helping any. i keep working and doing shit that i shouldnt probably be doing.. its KILLING me to be unable to do the daily things im used to..

Re: my f'd up clavicle pics

I feel your pain, I broke mine last august in the bowl at loudon. My first doc wanted to see how well it would heal on its own. After a couple weeks there was no progress (if the bones don't have enough contact they won't heal up) and I was referred on to a specialist who gave me some titanium bling. In hindsight I would seek out another opinion sooner. Those first couple weeks really sucked because the nerves were all screwed up and angry with no improvement. I was told in a lot of cases where the bone contact is good it can heal on it's own without surgery. I was also told the recovery time is less with surgery and it is much stronger.
Good luck man, it's a frustrating and painful injury that gets in the way of just about everything.

if its gonna keep moving and your doc sees that and doesn't recommend surgery its time to say bye bye to him and go to a real doctor.

go see another doctor dude, tell the doctor, look, it hurts, here's my xrays, are you going to do something about this or do I need to see another doctor... Far too often people will stick with the other guy without getting a 2nd or 3rd opinion - it's worth it to see what another doctor says about it.

Dude, if you need a hand with anything don't hesitate to ask. Stay off that thing and get better. I am one for surgery after a bad experience w/ my wrist, but that was a blood flow issue to the bone (scaphoid) which is a bit diff.

Get that thing operated on before you cause more damage. I have nothing close to a doctorate but an EMT and studies in kinesiology is all I need to tell you that needs some of that titanium bling.

I waited too long before having shoulder surgery because shoulder surgery is one of the toughest to come back from and my shoulder still isn't right. See the specialist, and get surgery. The collar bone isn't a difficult recovery.

Note: I haven't had clavical surgery but my class taught me that it was one of the easier recoveries. (The clavical is near the derma so nothing needs to be separated and if your shoulder and upper back muscles are strong enough recovery will be eased by their stability.

Rich, I hope that injury gets to heal soon enoug for you. I'm sure it's nothing fun to live with the pain it causes.

Re: my f'd up clavicle pics

Went and saw one o the leading oath doc's in the country today. He did more X-rays. Apparently one of the bones separated and is traveling down into my chest!!!! WTF. He said it's also possibly hitting a nerve ( hence the numbness and muscle spasms and pain). I o for some nerve testa tmrw and then back to see him right after which he was pretty stern on. So I have a feeling surgery is in the mix real soon! I'd BETTER BE BETTER BY AUGUST BOMO DAY!!!!! I'll post today's X-ray shortly.

sorry to say but by the sounds of it you aren't gonna be anywhere near better by the middle of august. you want that shit healed right before you get back on the bike.

Re: my f'd up clavicle pics

I'm at anther doctors right now. Getting a EMG nerve conduction study. Whatever the frigg that is. I think I'm going to get small shocking pulses to see what nerves are being pinched by the bone dropping into my chest. WTF !! All I know is I didn't take any meds today for pain and my arm, shoulder and bones are fucking killing me. !!!!!
