It worries me because so many of these people never ride their bikes and then pull them out to ride up to bike week to pose, of course taking off their helmets since they are such skilled riders.
My previous boss was even one of these. He had a Honda cruiser, no one ever saw him ride it except to go to bike week, he wouldn't wear a helmet in NH cause, "I grew up around bikes, I know what I'm doing." Now he just went and got a fat boy so he can totally fit into the crowd.
And this is a very smart guy away from bikes! (But a horribly unsmooth driver when I've rode in the car with him, that does not bode well!)
The accident that killed 3 last friday was on Rt. 9... how the heck do you drift across the centerline on Rt. 9... it's not twisty at all... lots of the corners would be fine at 100mph.
One of the guys was the brother of my boss's neighbor. As I understand it, they've all been riding a long time. I'd be curious to see what the deal was.

Bike wreckage looked like nakeds not cruisers. Of course the plastics could have been exploded off by the crash.

Yah like the helmet matters when you center-punch an SUV at a closing speed likely >100mph.
Point is careless riders with the double whammy of no gear. Lots of credit to any cruiser rider up there who does choose to wear a helmet.
This just sucks no matter how you look at it...
But in the female passengers case a helmet might have helped...???

This happens almost every year... it's a shame, really. If ya think about it though, you pack that many bikers into such a concentrated area, ready to show off for others at a moments notice, it's gonna happen
